Sure, sugar exists in bread in some form because of carbs, fermentation etc etc but yeah you can find bread that doesn't have sugar as an added ingredient. It's most common for good rustic bread not to have it. If you ask Birchtree or Crust which breads don't have sugar in their recipe, they should be able to tell you. As an actual baker, most breads I made did not use sugar in the recipe.

It's solidarity. But also it's purposely being treated as a national issue.

Anyway, seriously, you can plan a protest for these other things if you'd like. And there are people working on improving these problems in Worcester, if you're interested in knowing what is being done or if you'd like to work with them.

It's never just about the protest. Protests are usually part of a larger effort. The efficacy of protests varies. They can yield immediate results, they can take years to build momentum, they can be quashed or quickly forgotten. but at the very least they let a community know that some of it's members care about something. It connects people and fosters further work on the issue. If anyone else in the community is concerned about this thing but isolated, now they know they have a community and path to doing work on the issue. It's a single part of many types of effort and activism that can bring eventual change.

If you're around in the summer you'll want to check out the Worcester World Cup. It's just lovely. There are pick up soccer games around but you kind of just have to find people playing in a park and ask them. I know wpi has some students who regularly get together to play. I saw you ask about beaches; Rhode island beaches are very good. Lots of surfing year round (wet suits are magic). And beaver tail park is really beautiful.

Mexican food options are slowly improving here as more mexican people move here i think. I see reviews for Gala Foods on main St. say there are Mexican products. I haven't checked. You may have to make grocery store trips to other cities in the area and cook your own Mexican favorites to eat the really good stuff. But I'm guessing some of the recommendations you're getting here will help alleviate some cravings.

You may know by now, but lots of people here often call anything and anyone that is Latino or from spanish-speaking origins, Spanish. Some may call you Spanish and also not realize how different Mexican culture and food is from latin-carribean culture and food.
