There's a lot of flash assumptions here.
The funitil isn't a gondola. It actually functions more like a tram. And I don't think they make funitil anymore. They are being replaced by 3s lifts which are pretty similar. I do think that'd be a good option for replacing the tram. But I don't think a traditional gondola is a good idea personally.
Also Cannon is actually just as windy as Palisades if not more. You know how Mount Washington had the highest wind speed record, cannon actually had the 2nd spot. Also keep in mind the cannons tram goes to the summit and the Gold Coast only goes halfway up.
There are east coast gondolas that make sense. Stratton, K1, starship, stowe just to name a few.

I'm not going to dive into all of their financial documents. But a lot of the numbers this website has listed don't match the numbers in the linked documents. So I can't trust any of their data.

Loon never announced when they would be replacing their gondola and it definitely isn't happening next year. It will be a multi year project when they do.

They actually used to remove the chairs on the quad and replace them with gondola cabins in the summer. https://youtu.be/yXAOUKPUr6E

I'm not sure if wildcat has ran their lift in the summer since COVID. But they actually remove the chairs and run gondola cabins in the summer.

Trams operate better in high wind. Which cannon and the notch get frequently. It's also a better attraction for summer than a gondola.

Yeah I'm not going to trust that website at all. It hasn't been updated in 7 years. They aren't using the correct data and there is clearly an agenda to have cannon's operations sold.

Were you on Parker Mountain? There are mountain bike/fatbike trails out there. They are sometimes groomed by someone snowshoeing and dragging a tire behind them. Probably getting the trail ready for the incoming storm.

If you're willing to hike you can go to the Alpine Garden on the east side of Mount Washington. You can also wait until the Auto Road opens and drive up for a much shorter hike. One of my favorite trails in the White's

That doesn't look like urbanization but rather where the rain snow line fell for the storm. Coastal main which is much more rural had the same differences in rain and snow.

How did urbanization affect this storm?

Loon has arguably the best, most consistent conditions in the state and even New England. Bretton Woods is the only other mountain that can compete in the state. If you think loon is windy you probably haven't skied cannon or wildcat. It's also one of the few large mountains in the state. That being said it is also the most popular and busiest mountain in the state.

The grid is relatively regional. So it's purchased in regions within New England . It also has to do with distribution. And for the most part Northern Pass was destined for the southern NH. That would have freed up some for the NH market but I believe the last estimate was that it would save the NH customer less then $1 a year or something.
