I don't live too far from there and I think they should do it. That area is a wasteland of parking lots. They built the apartments on the hill above Quincy Adams Station and they seem to be full. Why wouldn't these be? It's near restaurants and stores. There's roads in and out. They can "gate off" the neighborhood behind there if they want. And, there will be low income housing mixed in. I wish there was more but it's a start. And, how many people are constantly in this group looking for housing options?

Reply to To the guy who stepped in by LibertyCash
I'm glad to hear someone stepped in to help you. I was on the Red Line 2 weeks ago Saturday night. We had to take shuttles from Broadway to North Quincy, which sucked. There's a guy on the platform in North Quincy who was approaching everyone. You know, "Happy New Year" "How are You". Just literally in everyone's face. Pretty much everyone tried to ignore him b/c he was pretty aggressive. Then, we get on the train and he proceeds to get in a fight with another guy. They are yelling at each other. Lots of insults. Then the 2nd guy gets off the train at QA, turns around, and throws a full container of something at the first guy. It hits a seat and ends up on the floor. This stuff has got to stop. The T is bad enough and then there's this stuff going on. I literally avoid it whenever I can.

Can you stay in the UK with your family? Seems like that's a better choice than living in your car with your child.

My privilege? Whatever the hell that means. Can you say Uvalde? Or the Walmart in El Paso? Or any number of other times where having a gun did no good? Or maybe I should quote gun death stats to you, including intentional, accidental and suicide. Pepper spray? Sure. Gun? No

That old adage that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun? It's pretty much been disproven by now.

You could be right. There's a story in the Globe today where the family states she's been on the streets in NH since she was 20. And also that she had been hospitalized prior to that. In MA, if it's determined you are a danger to yourself or others, you can be put on a 72 hour hold. But, you can sign paperwork that says you will be exercising your right to leave in 72 hours. I can also tell you from personal experience (having gone thru this with my child), the patient will not get much help while they are hospitalized. It's a baby sitting service. The benefit is the individual is kept alive for another 72 hours. Then it's back to the family having to figure it out.

Super sad story. I hope that baby is okay. Shocking that he survived. Mental illness and drug addiction are no joke and often go hand in hand. Family members can try to intervene but there's not a lot you can really do. This woman is an adult and made her own decisions.

Ugh. They suck. I'm sorry that you've got all this stress to deal with. I got caught up in a similar situation a few years ago. I had to travel for work last minute. My passport was expiring. But, I went down to Government Center and they worked with me. But, I was definitely there all day.

They'll let you in and help you. You might be there all day but relax. And, btw, your airline should have informed you about the 90 day passport rule. You enter your info when you book your ticket and the expiration date should have been flagged.

It's incredibly annoying. I am constantly unsubscribing from unwanted emails. The thing is, I don't want my credit card to have a fake email address. That's the only way to avoid this if they are scaping info from your card.
Also, I'm in Square. Nice to know that is leading to a lot of these emails as well.

Reply to Apparently the MBTA is having a tough time filling their IT positions to the point they're resorting to using a particular type of 3rd party recruiters located out-of-state to fill them by goldeneye0
Outsourcing IT roles to India, Eastern Europe, and Asia is a long established practice. I think it's something to get all that stressed about, especially if a company is unable to find resources locally. Please keep in mind these are typically lower level jobs; the rates are lower; outsourcing allows for the flexing up and down of roles as needed, etc. Just because you got called doesn't mean anything at all.
Not a big fail at all. More standard business practice.

No. Ballots are not thrown out. I am a poll worker. And by the way, most poll workers typically have nothing to do with the counting of the ballots. Poll workers check people in and hand them the ballots. That's about it.

Honestly? I feel safe in most cities. And Boston? Never had a problem. Obviously, stuff happens sometimes. Nothing anyone online can guarantee won't happen. But, I've never had a problem and I've lived in Boston or the Boston burbs for 25 years. And, my kids go out in Boston and they've never had a problem.

Try Stitchfix or Daily Look. You can try but don't have to buy. Other than that, Nordstrom Rack is okay. I tend to wear black pants, short sleeve shirt, casual blazer, and my favorite black boots. Seems to do the trick
