No; your taxes only pay for about 15% of the cost of FDNY EMS; the rest is funded through cost recovery.

Literally 85% of the funding, over $300mm, for FDNY EMS is from non-tax sources; so, EMS in NYC is substantially based on a cost-recovery model.

I see we have reached the stage in reflexive landlord hating where we don't even see the other words around "landlord" before losing our shit.

What do you suggest?
"Struck by a U-Haul truck, that was being driven by a person"? "Stuck by a person driving a U-Haul truck"? Do we seriously believe that either of these communicate the facts better than "struck by a U-Haul truck"?

Your picture fell off the wall; it knocked something (a glass vase?) down the back of the armoire which yanked the cable on the lamp, pulling it off the top.

Variability in underwriting standards is definitely a thing. I went with Wells Fargo and it definitely helped to have a mortgage banker that was prepared to go toe-to-toe with the risk/underwriting team at various points (I didn't have a "seasoned" credit file at the time I was looking to buy) but bonus income was not one of them for me.

What the hell kind of mortgage was that?
I have a jumbo loan where bonus income was accepted without a blink; and conforming loan standards allow commission or bonus income that's stable over a two year period.

This is the Federally-mandated definition of "homeless" in the education context - it's not padding, it's the measurement that Congress told the states they had to use.

The legal definition of "homeless" in the education context is from the McKinney-Vento Act.
With respect to "doubling-up", those are
>children and youths who are sharing the housing of other persons due to loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason
So, no, your example would not count.

You end up with stuff like this:

Yup, that's a 1,300 sqft studio; not legally a one bedroom because the "bedroom" doesn't have a window.
