Reply to A recent thread made me nostalgic for malls back in their heydey. Anyone have any vintage pictures of Monmouth Mall in particular? by mkymouse73
There is a current search to find a time capsule that was put in the 60s somewhere under the mall. If it gets found you can see pics from back then. Here’s the article: https://patch.com/new-jersey/longbranch/bp--help-solve-the-mystery-of-the-missing-monmouth-ma5461ff93c4

I like their rock on weekends. Some of their hosts are ok but some are a little messed up. I call in time to time and some of them have made off color comments. That being said it can be entertaining.

Yo while you don’t need a car to get around in jc or Hoboken the rent is insane. You’ll get more fir your value anywhere else in the state and in jc or Hoboken you might still need a car if your doctor is grocery store is out of town. If your planning on your new job being in nyc there is public transportation to get there but it is unrealible. Taxes are much more in Nj. Your cost of living will go up as necessities are also much more expensive in this state. Don’t get me wrong nj Is a beautiful state and great place to live but it will cost you.

Personally I think nj is getting to expensive because of all the New Yorkers moving in. In a state like Connecticut you could get more for your value. Although if you insist on moving to nj I would recommend Montclair. They have a huge downtown with plenty of dining and shopping options that almost feels like the city. They are half an hour to city by train. It is very diverse. The houses are also close together and has friendly people. I know some friends from the city that are considering moving there to. You’ll meet a lot of people like minded to ideology’s that people have in the city. I would definitely considering looking into Montclair. If you do I can put you intouch with friends of mine that live there.
