Hey, I’m sorry you’re sick but glad you’re moving here where you can access exceptional care.

Also, for what it’s worth, my best friend has metastatic cancer and they’ve given her news like that a bunch of times and she just keeps coming back. Good quality of life too.

I hope for that for you.

I think the point about not much being known is very appropriate, though that will change as information comes out at trial, because this absolutely will be an obsessively documented trial.

I think some of it is that people have no idea how to react to something this horrible and need to find something easy or comfortable to label it with. We’ll learn more with time.

I was young so I only vaguely remember contemporaneous coverage of Andrea Yates but I remember her being treated as a monster. Then, when I read the case details years later, it seemed very clear that her husband’s religious beliefs were a huge factor in what happened to her children and now I feel nothing but pity for her.

Yup. I usually don’t go through people’s post history but if someone is downplaying the felony they committed and looking to acquire a gun, I figure a cursory look is worth it before we all jump in with support.

This guy’s a mess. Posts from a year ago looking for escorts, asking about heroin, and seeking to cultivate cannabis (which is not a big deal in and of itself but maybe isn’t the best indicator this guy is some innocent dupe who made a mistake as a kid.)

He seems like exactly the kind of person who shouldn’t be anywhere near a gun because his judgment seems to be a wreck on multiple levels.

You don’t need a gun “to protect your family” and given that you’ve been posting in prepper forums and asking how to get around drug tests in other posts, you don’t sound like someone who needs a gun at all.

Edit: just found the posts about heroin and escorts. Yeesh. Messy.

I had a similar thing happen a few years ago and I always think fondly of the two men who stepped in and helped. I was walking past the public library heading to Abe & Louie’s and a man with obvious mental health issues started walking right behind and then next to me. At first I just kind of tried to smile and be nice and get out of the way to let him get ahead but then he grabbed my hair and I screamed. Two men stepped in. One chased the guy off and the other insisted on walking me to the door of the restaurant.

I was so grateful for it. Truly, people like this have no idea the difference they make in how people feel about their safety in public. I never walk past that corner without thinking of those guys.
