If AI won't collapse civilization, the combination of climate change and rappidly diminishing resources leading to a WW III will. Those two things combined have a 100% chance of destroying civilization. AI has a less than 100% chance of doing so. It's the better thing to aim for even with 99.9% certainty of destruction, because destruction with the status quo is garanteed.

The voice in your head is what I imagine an llm would do if it got multimodal input and were told to just "keep talking" about what's going on

Reply to Chat-GPT 4 is here, one theory of the Singularity is things will accelerate exponentially, are there any signs of this yet and what should we be watching? by Arowx
Where were you these last 3 weeks? I'm getting recommendations on AI YouTube that are super interesting but there' no point in watching them because they're a week old and already super out of date. I've literally seen people on this sub saying they need a summary of the past three days because they were out of the loop at that time.

The bot is stumped now, no need to worry guys, just some more evidence that the singularity won't happen for another 123456789 more years :)

Reply to comment by MarginCalled1 in When will AI develop faster than white collar workers can reskill through education? by just-a-dreamer-
Don't even start. Some govt departments in Germany still use FAX. Public white collar work will take longer to automate than private office jobs because of govt's reluctance to change.

With social media you have truth Social and the Twitter takeover. With AI you'll have truth bot, your local anti-vax, racist, homophobic, devoutly religious, gun-loving chatbot.

Good, it'll make the singularity happen faster in the end, and whatever failed states or international incidents arise from mismanaged AI in the meantime will be rectified then

It fooled enough people into thinking that what it was making was art to win aan art contest. For art. The thing it's not supposed to be able to make.

If you have a single AI system that does all four we will already have something lots more powerful than what exists today

Great. I look forward to using AI in future to write fiction, which is what I use things like AI Dungeon for a lot, where everything is super duper peachy and nobody has any problems because we can't have the AI say anything about conflicts or disasters, lest it destroy us all.

This is the stock reply I give to everyone who's like "AI bad! GMO bad because scary DNA! Chemicals bad because scary professors!"
