Does the quality of people on the apps change depending on which app you use?
A decade ago I knew a girl who used to look for guys on POF and all she ever found were total losers.
I was pretty serious about finding a real relationship, so between Match and eHarmony, I paid for a year subscription to eHarmony. Ended up meeting the person I married within the first 2 months.

Seeing a random gun =/= seeing a police scene you’re not involved with and asking what’s up.

Pretty sure someone drove their vehicle past something they weren’t involved in and then went to Reddit because they were nosy. Other things could have happened too.

You’re so close to getting it…..
Pine Tree Power will have to subcontract operations to another company. So you may own the plane, but you still have to pay a “BUTT LOAD OF PROFIT” to whichever company they contract to do that.
To stick with the plane metaphor; you’re buying the plane from United just to say you own it, but then you’re contracting it to Jet Blue, because you don’t know the first thing about plane ownership.
So now you’re paying back the loan you took out to buy the plane, AND you’re paying jet blue to manage it for you.

Kind of a dumb question. Think of CMP like a Boeing 747.
>Would you rather rent the plane, or own the plane?
Well either way, I don’t know how to fly the plane. So in one case I rent it and someone else flys it. In the other case, I have to buy it, make payments on it, and still have to hire someone else to fly it for me.

https://s24.q4cdn.com/489945429/files/doc_financials/2022/04/4Q-'21-All-Companies.pdf
Net income (profit) for CMP is right around $180 million
Nowhere close to $3 Billion.
Their total assets are around $5 Billion.
For reference Pine Tree Power has to buy Verisant too, and their assets are worth right about $1 Billion.
Since both are profitable companies, you won’t be able to buy them for less than face value, and will likely have to buy them for some multiple of that (ever watch Shark Tank?)
So call it 1.5x ($6 Billion) and you’re going to pay a minimum of $9 Billion for this statewide takeover.

Yeah, PTP’s plan is to take all of CMP’s assets (employees, vehicles, equipment, infrastructure, everything) and contract them to the successful bidder who will manage the business.
I’ve worked in procurement so I can say, yes, you can give preference to Maine Businesses, but it’s a pretty limited window. Like, if two companies are right about even, you can give preference to the maine business, but if they’re like $50 million apart, the fact that one is a maine business is meaningless.

You miss the point. Your post mentioned profits not going to private companies. But it’s Pine Tree Power’s plan to contract services to a private (assumed for profit) company.
So not only will we be paying back the debt on the bond, but we’ll still be paying profit to whichever company Pine Tree Power contracts with.

Sorry, fixed it for you though.

I bet the sign never gets hit when there’s so much snow around it.
The large visual indication of “can’t drive here” is what drivers need to avoid the pole; most hit is because they’re cutting the corner when the pole is lost in their blind spot.
If Walmart were to build up the area with a raised island and curbing you’d never see the pole get hit again.

I wish I knew what you guys were all on about.
Sure, my bill has gone up over the years. It’s just about doubled, but it’s been over the course of 6 years. I’ve never seen the sudden price jumps everyone is talking about without reason.
Every summer we run our AC constantly, so the spike is expected, but it goes right back down, and other than that it’s just been a slow steady rise.

The originally left Topsham, headed to the Maine Mall, but ended up lost in Massachusetts. Family tried guiding them over the phone but they ended up lost in Exeter, NH.
They called the police who tried to guide them back to Maine, and the next day they had driven clear across the state up to Springfield.
From there, they tried to get south again, but ended up in East Hancock.

I wouldn’t go that far. There are a number of reasons why this could have happened, some of which include unbalanced medications for mental health issues.
I have a family member who is perfectly capable of driving a vehicle and getting from place to place without issue, but twice in the past decade she’s gone off her meds and there were issues. Once she drove across 3 states before she got pulled over and the officer recognized a mental health issue, the second time she was just 2 towns over knocking on a random door asking if she could buy their house.
I don’t know these two women or their situation, but I don’t think we can just assume they both have advanced dementia and belong in a nursing home, rather than just an isolated issue that can be fixed.

Once the women are found, the families really need to look into a GPS tracker for the future. They make trackers that just plug into the OBDII port under the dashboard and then you can track the vehicle wherever with an app on your phone.

I’d bet they passed through Springfield on the way to Topsfield because of their disorientation, thinking it was Topsham. Once they got to Topsfield and realized they were still lost, they may have recognized signs for Route 1 and followed that either north or south.

> Topsham police provided an update on the search Thursday morning, saying their last known location was at an Irving gas station in Springfield, Maine, about 50 miles from the Canadian border, around 10 a.m. Wednesday. They said law enforcement agencies in northern Maine have been notified in hopes of finding them.
Last cell phone ping was in Candia, NH, and the next day they’re 250 miles away in Springfield? At least they’re still on the road and not in a ditch.
Seems reasonable that they’ll eventually run into a border checkpoint, or out of gas and actually have to interact with someone.
