I didn't know people who were into mechanical keyboards cared about their hearing

here's a headphone ranking list from a dude who's even more into IEMs

the popular budget headphones around here tend to be the Koss KSC75

If you have windows or macos, you can really get into how folks evaluate headphones with this app

the thing we do differently here is share frequency response graphs and make jokes about them. a lump in one place means boomy, move it and it's shouty, etc.

If people were free they wouldn't pay rent. Not every country is afflicted with rampant landlordism. Countries with high home ownership have negligible levels of homelessness. Hoarding the housing supply is not ethical. If you take something everybody needs and put it on the market, the price will necessarily go too high for some people to afford it. Something everybody needs, you're advocating for denying that for the sake of preservation of the livelihood of worthless parasites. The threat of homelessness to preserve profiteering, that's your idea of freedom.

If budget is an issue then the answer changes, here's a year-old list https://crinacle.com/rankings/iems/

I also submit Truthear Zero for $50ish, Celest Gumiho for the samish price if you don't have big earholes, and Letshuoer S12 Pro if you want something really good. There's Salnotes Zero in the $20 range and it's got a really good reputation but personally I don't think it can do treble.

None of these are literally earbuds, they're IEMs to split hairs

I have the QC35 and the XM3. I've had 2 pairs of XM3 that pick up a faint rumbling noise in one ear, it doesn't go away with reflashing the firmware or anything. The XM3 I bought, 3rd pair, that doesn't have that problem came with a cracked headband, it's currently sitting in pieces as I had to desolder 12 tiny wires to replace the cracked part.

It's possible you got a firmware update on your bose that nerfed ANC.

I vote, replace your Bose earpads and use those till they break and then buy something neither bose nor sony if you want an improvement, ANC headphones are starting to get some quality options like Focal Bathys. I personally won't buy any new bluetooth gear that doesn't support LDAC, Aptx-Lossless or at least Aptx-HD.

I got this feeling that you get what you pay for comparing my S12 to a Salnotes Zero.

I've got B2D coming in the mail, i ordered that shit MONTHs ago, I'm sore about it. When/if they ever get here, no matter how the S12s sound compared to them, I already know the niche that the S12s will fill. I've seen a lot of folks drop their Blessing2s and they crack up like nothing, the S12 looks like it's built a lot more solidly so they're my durable going-out-doing-rough-shit IEMs. I'll treat my B2Ds with kid gloves so the backplates don't fall off.

And you gotta try etymotics. I know you're after bass, and they have less than neutral, but if you see a deal go for it IMO, it's a different experience.
