it really depends what your using the bacon for. hard slightly burnt bacon is better for sandwiches or biscuits. softer bacon for eating with eggs.

lol yeah, i'm single with no kids. cooking bacon is the meal, just continue to eat as you go. last batch there are 5 strips left. I do use the oven if i'm making sausage, bacon, egg and cheese biscuits tho.

as someone that works in restaurants. most of their food seems microwaved tbh..... it isn't the worst, but like it really isn't even average.

little havanah is basically there for drinks with a view of the harbor. food is honestly pretty shit if you want authentic. I've been to miami a good deal and work with hispanics in restaurants. like food isn't shit on its own and i will eat it, it just isn't near authentic tho from eating there it does seem like a bit is microwaved.

don't. VA beach is not it. I grew up in richmond, spent time in the mountains. VA beach was for buying drugs and seeing people dying on the corner from gunshot wounds. it's baltimore by the beach. it's tourists and drug dealers. myrtle is much the same but less drugs more tourists.
the-denver-nugs t1_ixl7e5s wrote
uhhh both are kinda similar, about what your looking for. i'm 28 spent my time in both. richmond is all walks of life but decent young crowd plus the variety of all walks. Charlottesville is young people or old doctors with married people in the middle. I'd recommend Richmond if you want to be single tbh. unless your looking for like 45 year old divorces with money. though both beautiful places.

holy shit didn't even think about norfolk. that is such a better example. philly I agree is just so much bigger but similar vibes imo. norfolk/richmond combo is a perfect discription. I live on light right next to the M&t building lol. grew up in richmond and have spent time in norfolk.

ehhhhhh i'm from richmond. baltimore is richmond but like richmond 20 years ago. also what is people greeting you on the street? baltimore people are like richmond when it was ghetto, they greet you to ask for a cig or money lmao. nobody else talks to strangers here. I had more convos with strangers when I visited with strangers in philly this year and in richmond this year dispite living in baltimore full time and only going to philly/richmond for a week each.

meh name a more similar city. i've been up and down the east coast. philly is the only one close. it used to be richmond around 2010, but it's getting heavily gentrified from out of towners of late. (I'm from richmond, VA) maybe atlanta but not really. charlotte maybe?
the-denver-nugs t1_ivsbc5s wrote

yeah lol I work in baltimore county but have worked in several restaurants. BoH spanish is almost a requirement. even the chefs speak broken english mostly. I expo and literally have to speak kitchen Spanish to the line every day. my conjugations arn't great and sometimes they look at me weird when I say shit like neccicito salsa para ensalada de casa or neccicito salsa de cabayo (salad of house dressing and sauce of horse literal translations) horseradish sauce for the second one.

uhhhh did you do the math because say if the chicken doubles from $5 -%10. then 5X3=15 10x3=30. why would the price of the entree only increase 30%? granted you are somewhat right but not because of any reason you posted. labor/building arn't included which would change the pricing structure because with $5 chicken it's $10 profit. with $10 chicken it's a $20 profit. though also pricing for rent and housing also through the roof. and labor has also been more expensive than ever in the pandemic as we have had to pay more for servers, BoH, cooks, bartenders. we havn't doubled entree prices but we are incuring more expenses than ever before and probably should have.

your absolutely right and I love the people saying it's to be Instagram friendly it's fucking funny. do you realize how many people that come to my restaurant just to post it on Instagram and take pictures? that is legit a market at this point. ambiance and feeling high class can get you guests lmao. also know a chef at one of the places, the food isn't bad at all for the price. fresh food has been expensive for like 3 years now. people don't realize in the last year alone a pound of chicken has gone from like $5 to like 10$ (just loose things but it has doubled pretty much in a year) which a double in price even 2.5$(8oz) to 5$ for chicken can make a grilled chicken breast go from 7.5$ to $15. in the industry we shoot for 30%-35% food cost as a standard.

that's pretty much most upscale places tbh. chicken stock and the like is used in most french style cooking is pretty normal. usually you have a very limited menu for these sorts of things.

honestly their food isn't horrible as someone that works in restaurants. overpriced? ehhhh with how food prices have risen of late they are fairly decently priced at this point, slightly overpriced but ehhh your paying for service and ambiance as well in places like that. other places in fed hill or mt vernon can still make food and buy restaurants. hell they still can in fells, just they pay more because they are a rich family. like I've eaten there because I know a chef at one place from columbia md and just curious. it really aint that bad of places other than you know the racism which is why you shouldn't eat there. don't hate on the food, because for the price it isn't that bad with todays prices and the food chain shitshow that has been happening for like 3 years now.
