Reply to TIL The fiddle part in "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" is taken from a Vassar Clements song called "Lonesome Fiddle Blues" by purplechinacat
TIL for me, as well. After listening to Lonesome Fiddle Blues on YouTube, I realized I'd heard it before. It's in David Hoffman's 1965 documentary about Appalachian mountain music and step dancing, a band of old-timers is playing it while a couple teens from a traveling dance troupe are warming up: https://youtu.be/kgHgLgR9WNc?t=1613

This reminds me of something my wife said when we talked about infidelity: "If you cheated on me with another man, that's something I would understand, because he could do things for you that I couldn't"
I think she'd still leave me, there just wouldn't be any "why are you with that floozie?" in the ensuing argument and barrage of dishes hurled my way.
Interesting point about men not cheating upwards. I'd never considered that before, but it makes perfect sense.
