probably, between me and my husband i dont trust us to get an even taller ladder and scale it safely. It's all strategically located so that we can't get the ladder at the best angle because there's a light fixture right underneath.

the rest of the detectors in our house take batteries, i can only assume this one is the same? will have to double check.
