If you do it yourself, you can be more thorough, getting all the tiny scraps into the burger pile. Processors are much faster, but don’t spend the extra time to get all the small bits. Total yield also depends on loss from the killing wound.

Not dumb necessarily, just extremely prey driven. They are likely focused on catching sparrows or other small birds that maybe retreat into the barn.

You can age then fairly reliably by eye color. Yellow is a juvenile, this looks like. Second year, and they get redder with age. I would have to see a retained upper tail covert to be sure of it being a second year though.

Yep, it’s a sedan. Not sure I’d call that “Vermont” more like mental illnesses.
