The article also says roads aren’t a public good since they don’t meet the two conditions for them to be considered such.

Basically hosting community events there. A separate project would improve the plaza. Kinda what they did with Eastern Market

It’s a safe neighborhood for the most part, but the spate of violent incidents at and around the station in recent months is definitely concerning. There were several proposals to “activate” the station’s plaza in addition to other improvements. But who knows if these will ever happen.

It’s usually a very quiet stop but lately it’s had several incidents.

Get a mesh system. If you have Ethernet jacks throughout your house, I’d use wired backhaul if speed is important.

They were reported as 8 robberies yesterday. Now is 5 of them and three assaults because property wasn’t actually taken for the latter.

Add the 8 robberies in NW that happened today in the middle of the day, plus the carjacking around Lincoln Park, the carjacking around the Supreme Court and the robbery outside of the middle school and that annual drop will start getting smaller and smaller. Motor vehicle thefts have doubled from the same period a year ago. https://mpdc.dc.gov/page/district-crime-data-glance. Sure, it ain’t the 90s but we sure as hell don’t wanna get to a point the city mayor is asking the National Guard to help the city fight crime, nor is it a good example to compare crime now to what it was when DC was the nation’s murder capital. https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/politics/1991/01/02/washington-areas-703-homicides-in-1990-set-a-record/ee71dd1f-59c8-4f03-af62-05b0a6134365/

The Anacostia Park early weekend mornings. It’s usually empty at that time. You can probably practice making left and right turns, joining a road from a stop, etc

That’s what happened. Suspects apprehended. They’ll be back out tomorrow by noon. Rinse and repeat.

It depends on race, income, sex, etc. Yeah, if you’re white and live in Ward 1, I agree a bumper is more likely to kill you. Not the same odds for others living in other parts of the city, though, who have seen a steady increase in violent crime over the past couple of years.

Exactly. So these calls to ban vehicles are just nonsense. We should just enforce the rules to curb reckless driving. You know, like the rest of the world does.

It’s not the cars. It’s the people driving them.

You could try Sammy Lee at Capitol Hill Tailor Shop on Penn Ave. He’s never tailored ski pants for me but he’s tailored a bunch of other stuff. He’s very good and prices are reasonable. Just be prepared to wait a bit.

Did you even read the article? It mentions that the community has fundraised thousands of dollars for the band for years.
Here’s a recent article about their fundraising after the WaPo article.

And it should be financed via fiscal support from the state and fees paid by users.
