Sell the sets as sets if you can, unload the rest on eBay by weight in multiple lots or one big one if it's not too massive. Or go to one of the vendors in Ellicott city and see what they'll give you.

You'd be surprised how many adult fans of LEGO there are out there. I already have more than enough myself, but what kind of sets did you collect?

There are a couple of places in old Ellicott City that sell used LEGO. There used to be a vendor at the fleamarket in Dundalk too. The flea market was less expensive, but the parts were all common. I've had better luck being patient and buying lots off of eBay, but if there's something specific I am looking for then Bricklink.
Most people are aware that LEGO hold their value, it's difficult to find them cheap especially if they are complete sets. The only true scores I've gotten is when coworkers who know I am into LEGO have just gifted me their kid's old sets.

Agreed, as with most things in life "it depends" but my house and to some extent my extended property should be considered safe places where I have no duty to retreat. The perp has already committed trespassing and B&E. If they are not retreating when they find someone at home, knowing the homeowner may be armed, then I can assume they are also armed and represent a threat greater than property theft.
Also the duty to retreat assumes it is just my own life in danger, if there are other loved ones or pets in the house, where does that leave them?

I never found Bordier after calling around, but I should've asked what else everyone had. Echire is also an excellent choice.

I have avoided asking him if he ever takes butter into the bedroom. I don't want to know... where he spreads it is his business!

Gasp! Using expensive butter in cookies!? Good point though, supply and demand. Tis the season. Have a great holiday, baking or otherwise!
