Some of the stops are only a few blocks away from each other. I always thought it was ridiculous.

2 beds are at around $2500 minimum in the cheapest but still somewhat desirable parts of the city. More like $3000+ in the better parts. If you want laundry probably closer to $3500. Can’t speak to 1 beds or studios but they aren’t significantly cheaper. Outside of the city in the metro area will be cheaper. Just browse zillow and see what’s available.

MA will continue to be a trans friendly space in the future most likely. Even our previous republican governor didn’t veto bathroom bills some years ago. HOWEVER, there are some spots in the state that trans people do not want to live in. Anywhere in the Boston metro area will be fine though. Is moving to Boston a good idea? Depends how much money you have.

Have you been to Nubian recently? There are a ton of new condos nearby. It still needs more but there is quite a lot of development over there.

There are still places in JP and Roslindale for that price. They are pretty cool neighborhoods well connected to the T. Probably Quincy as well but not so familiar. They won’t be super modern but pretty nice. I don’t think you’ll get a modern place on your budget honestly, and you will certainly require a car if you’re outside of Greater Boston (imo anyway).

Most of the area within that drive is similarly as boring. If you are amenable to leaving MA, Providence is really a great little city. I find it more exciting than Boston honestly.
particular-potatoe t1_jahjmx5 wrote
Why not North Attleboro? I grew up in Attleboro and both cities are decent places to live. Just a bit boring. They are about 20 minutes to Providence, which is very lively, and about an hour to Boston.

I wasn’t aware SF and LA were laughing stocks of America. Right wing talking points, sure. But these problems are systemic. They aren’t just happening in a few cities. Venture outside of the Northeast or west coast and see how you like the quality of life there… you won’t.

I don’t think there are plans to expand any line in the near future. The MBTA is not even meeting current service needs with their current budget. Any influx of cash would be to fix infrastructure.

Conservatives suck. But there are a lot of liberals here that stand in the way of housing development too. We’re overwhelmingly a blue a state yet somehow haven’t done much if anything to solve this problem.

Ideally, you would want to put at least 20% down to avoid PMI. If you have a low enough interest rate, it makes more financial sense to take the loan and invest your extra money into the market instead of paying it off. On the other hand, some people like the security of not having a housing payment.
