Yep… We shop at the same store all the time, they know us by name, and we still get carded twice “for the cameras”.
Haven’t been carded for liquor in many years.

Now isn’t a great time to buy IMO.
Mortgage rates are up and property values have only slumped a little… if you’re able to hold onto they money and keep saving for a few more years you might just find yourself a better home for less with better interest rates.
There’s always the risk that rates and prices will go even higher, but I’d bet $5 they’ll be significantly lower in a few years.

Reply to In Washington, can an individual become a paid caregiver for a spouse? If yes, how? by reginaphalange360
Spouses can’t get paid, so if you wanna get paid you’ll have to get divorced. That’s what my ex wife and her new husband did when she was paralyzed by Guillain-Barré… she’s now permanently disabled, in part by loss of some fine motor control but also from heart failure and brain damage.

Reply to Cheapest option to tow a car in Washington? by shq13
The only way you’re gonna tow that far for that cheap is on your own… or maybe if you have a friend with a trailer.
A tow dolly or flatbed trailer from uhaul will run about $45-$60 plus tax.
Towing one way, 60 miles, with something capable will likely use 4 gallons of diesel or 5 gallons of gas… for a cost of around $20…
It’s probably cheaper to have a friend drive it for you if it runs.

That’s funny… we order PCs with top of the line CPUs and GPUs for work all the time, and they’re ALL shipped directly from China.
Pretty hard to “ban” China from getting and using stuff when companies actively work with Chinese companies to build and ship that stuff to customers around the world.

When I was a kid it rained regularly in San Diego. We had toads in our yard during the monsoon season, there were endless groves of avocado and citrus as far as the eye could see, and it was easy to find natural springs and creeks in the hills while out hiking. The highways all has beautiful green plants, much of it flowering all summer.
Not any more… Makes me sad to think about what we’ve lost in just a few decades.

Most folks don’t even realize how utterly screwed California is.
Since the 1920s the Central Valley has subsided almost 30 feet because people have been pumping too much water out of the ground.
The recent droughts and population growth have only made things worse.
I think a lot of folks still perceive California as the ideal place to live due to the states massive advertising budget and all the movies that picture it as such.
As somebody who grew up there who has spent time in both Southern California and the Bay Area I can say with 100% certainly that California is t what most folks think it is.
Sure, it seems all bright and shiny from afar, but get up close and you start to see it for what it really is.

IMO the weather isn’t better unless you prefer hot and dry… and you can find that elsewhere for a lot less money.

Just what we need, more drugs.
It’s bad enough that nearly every person working at the local stores and fast food places is stoned out of their fucking heads… the last thing we need is more people tripping on shrooms.
I’m all for prescription use with a therapist or something similar… but I can’t support anything more than that.

You fucked up twice… you CHOSE to drive too fast for the conditions… and you CHOSE to drive without full coverage.
Take it as a lesson learned since there’s nothing else you can do in this case.
About the only occasion you can hit a tree in the road and have somebody to cover your damage beside your own insurance is if the trees fell from private property like a business or home as their insurance will payout just to get rid of you.

Taking payments on a $1500 car? What the serious hell is the matter with you? That’s got to be the biggest warning sign right after a gaunt face, picked scabbed over sores, track marks, and face tattoos that you’re dealing with a rotten scumbag that’s nothing but trouble… and worse yet, YOU AREBT THE ONE DEALING WITH THEM FACE TO FACE!?!?!? you have your step mother dealing with this shit… you seem like a bit of a careless jerk.
You basically have two choices at this point. Call the cops and report him for the threats and hope the car hasn’t been stripped already(I bet $5 the cat is already gone) and pray that they don’t take it out on YOUR FAMILY…. Or suck it up, forget about the rest of the money, and just give them the car with a cheerful “merry Christmas”.
If it were at your house and you were home and we’ll armed option one would be a good way to go, but you’re not… you tried to make a business deal with a junkie for something at a family members house like an utter fool and now they might be in danger because you’re pissing off an irrational twat over a few hundred dollar… might just be best to kiss the couple hundred dollars goodbye and hope they don’t cause any trouble for your family.
Sometimes life is a bitch, hopefully you learn something from this experience.
