The Kenmore Drive In. There were some "firsts" there for me as a teen. I remember Jaws playing. The lineup to get in spilled out to Bothell Way for every showing. Sometimes you would miss one and have to see the next.

Grew up in Bothell starting in 1955. Does anybody here remember Bob's Fried Chicken with the huge tent awning with the fire pit right there in Kenmore?

I'm a pilot and my thing is Vintage aircraft. My flying partner is the antique guy and introduced me to Addison Pemberton in Spokane. He has restored a 1928 Boeing 40C mail plane that they recovered in Oregon. Look him up. I am sure there is plenty of documented history. Look up National Postal Museum. Pemberton and Sons Aviation. As a person he is first rate.

Mail plane pilots used to fly open cockpit Biplanes up the river in the dark in bad weather at 200 feet above the river being guided by nothing more than burning oil drums acting as beacons.

Yes it was sad. Every time this happens in high avalanche conditions I just wonder what the HELL they were doing up there. So many people do not respect the dangerous signs in the back country.

Yup our friends got one some years ago. I watched that thing many times and we finally got one. We have 3 herding dogs so while it was doing a gret job it also takes a beating from being herded.

Western Washington rancher here with an Australian Cattle Dog. I brush him from time to time, towel him off in the mud room on the way in and it sure helps to run him through the bath monthly in the winter. We have 2 vacuum cleaners as well.

Lifetime hunter here. All good tips here but I would add this: The skill of Orienteering would be very good to have. Orienteering is the craft of map and compass. GPS is fine but can be notoriously undependable due to poor reception in rugged terrain and an overstory forest. A compass will not fail you ever if used properly. I would not be so concerned about "Feral Wildlife" as I would be about getting lost in the thick, brushy outback of Western Washington. Also be prepared to protect against hypothermia and be prepared to spend at least one night in the woods. Any Search and Rescue organization is a good source for information and they are glad to help. It sounds like you need some education on being in the woods to be safe.

As a rental property owner in Washington for 27 years this is illegal by law and just plain way out of line as a sister. Your significant other needs to stand up to his sister. You should always have a quality, attorney reviewed rental agreement in place no matter who you rent from.

While my daughter, little miss lead foot was on our insurance we made her pull money out of her own savings account to hire this Attorney gal to get her tickets reduced to non speeding violations. She spent about $2400 on 10 or more tickets. Some people never learn. She is 28 and still gets tickets.

My friend the Aleutian Beauty owner and Jeff Hathaway's wife were very close to Scandies. Jeff was a really great guy. I liked him a lot. The last time I saw him was at his daughter's small wedding. He was the proud dad with a big hug and a big smile. Yea, you could line up 50 guys and try to pick the ones you thought would make on deck. Likely you would be wrong, It's in the head and heart. I watched a ton come and go.

We were all a bunch of swinging Dicks in our early 20's I grew up on a cattle ranch and had been around equipment and hazardous work for years, safety first. The other guys were city guys with not much experience at anything and had no sense of safety. EVERYBODY wanted a job on a crab boat and I got mine so in that respect I guess I was lucky and lucky to survive working on deck with these guys. My friends from my home town who I went to high school with came over to my boat and said I could work on their family boat any time and that maybe I wasn't in the best situation with these guys. In the end they were correct but I had chosen to stay home with my family and ill mother on the ranch at the time of the sinking. Family first always. I have lost friends to the Bearing Sea. Captain Jeff Hathaway of the Destination was a close friend. His wife and I worked together. Everybody is all Yeeha when money is being made and risks are taken but when shit goes bad as it did in his case it is a tragedy. Stay safe.

When I took my first trip in Tanner '78 we had no sorting tale and no coiler. On Nordic Venture we had a coiler but never used it. On my first boat Emerald Island we had a trolly system for pot management, same on Nordic Venture.. Cranes were just coming into use. Nordic Venture got ran on the rocks during Adak King season and sank 1979. Fucking unbelievable. Flat calm, sunny morning and Skipper fell asleep at the wheel, no watch alarm on. Norwegians for you.

Opilio shut down too, right? When I was fishing they were considered garbage crab. Our pots would be plugged when we got into those suckers. 1978 Red King quota 125 million pounds for the fleet. We plugged the Nordic Venture, a brand new boat in about 24 hours, 237,000 lbs. Those were the hay days. Bairdi Tanner was a second rate fishery at the time. Personally I like the meat better than King. My buddy who was part owner in Nordic Venture owns Aleutian Beauty. They are Halibut and cod fishing and he is still driving at 66. Pretty grumpy about his King quota shares.
