It's definitely heightened, but if you've seen The Brothers Bloom, it feels of a piece with that version of the world.

this is basically it. these telescopes are 'seeing' in wavelengths the human eye cannot detect - these images are basically just 'frequency adjusted' for our vision. It's a bit like night-vision goggles.

It was apparently sold as ‘Mister Disc’ in the US because Sound Burger was seen as too silly. But with the clarity of time we now understand that Sound Burger is the greatest product name ever.

Yes, at one point they were much like the Rocky Mountains and have essentially eroded into nubs. They are incredibly old.
