Just because they're technically from the same plant does not mean they're identical. Just as eating an apple isn't the same thing as eating an apple leaf or the bark of an apple tree, grass and grains have different nutritional values, and affect the quality and flavour of the beef. It's not just marketing.

We are definitely just biological computing machines! That wasn't really at question, if you consider the science. What is at question is how soon we can replicate that. Some would say we're close. I think we're a lot further than we assume, purely based on the complexity of the human brain's neural network vs. e.g. our best AI models.

Considering the "soul" or spirit irrelevant isn't really futurism. It's more like, existentialism or even nihilism, so we're talking 19th/20thC philosophy.

I'd say that TLOU is less broadly "a western" than the particular setting of this part of the game/show leans into that. Though I would say the spare lawlessness of most American post-apocalyptic media finds Western tropes easy to appropriate.

What does it mean? Look out for Red Dead Redemption on premium streaming soon.

AI will definitely replace a bunch of jobs and they won't all be replaced.

That's why economic reforms are so important. In a system of free-market capitalism automation will only increase the wealth gaps and ingrain unemployment and poverty; in a better system the efficiency can mean improved lifestyles for all.

I'm of the opinion of you have the language to digest mature concepts and the patience to sit through literature about it, the additional exposure can only be positive.

These are bestsellers from an author of young adult fiction so it's not exactly subversive counterculture. I think the only limiting factor is the girl's own interest, and there's no harm in offering one to try. As an English teacher I can say that age is the ideal time to challenge a young reader to open up the boundaries of reading practice.

That'll show 'em 🤔

Personally yes, I think you should take a break until you've got your mental health and moods in order. It may be that competetive games aren't actually good for your personal vibe and that's fine.

"On the edge of losing the offer" is not losing the offer. The position you're in is not one of failure but catastrophic thinking; besides, even a setback like the one you've described can be surmounted.

Part of growing up is learning how to right the ship when thing go off course. Don't feel like you have to throw it all away. People do care about you, and want to see you succeed. You will succeed, if you're resilient: even if success ultimately looks different to how you imagined it.
