I'd use 23/32 plywood. With 2×2 supports.

Not really your F'up. The stove should never be allowed to be where you need to reach over it to do your regular job. I'd bet if this were investigated by OSHA the owner would be fined. Did they offer you the opportunity to seek medical treatment? If not you could file a complaint with the state labore relations board.

Mortise your joints and glue and screw them. If you do this correctly it will be rock solid.

Why put the electric at 4 and water at 6. If I already had a trench at 6 feet I'd just run the wire next to it. It's only like 4 more feet of wire. Then if you ever need to dig you know where everything is. Also didn't the line get tested before burying it? Break the line at the house rig a cap to allow you to put compressed air in the line. Put 10psi in the line. If it holds it's likely a block if it bleeds off pressure it's a leak.

Do you have softened water? Hard water will build scale in the unit. You will need the normal operating presser and make sure to leave room for expansion. I normally work with steam boilers but they are similar. It would be best to get a professional.

Put a glue on mustache and googly eyes on it. Take it to your parents and introduce them to their new son in law. LOL.
