"...a tweet from Newman’s private Twitter account that included a picture of a slave baring his badly scarred back with the caption: "But we don’t know what he did before the picture was taken," according to the lawsuit.
Newman claimed the tweet was mocking commentators who "attempt to explain away videos of police brutality by claiming the victim must have committed wrongdoing before the video started."
Yeah... Sounds like this guy was treated in a manner acording to his actions.

Reply to Does this subreddit represent the true sentiment DC residents have for their city? by 42beastmode
I love DC and honestly i can't think of another city in the US I'd prefer to live in. DC has its problems and many of them are discussed here but i believe the benefits of the city vastly outweigh its issues. My and my wife's jobs went fully remote after COVID so we could live anywhere in the US but we choose to stay in DC because we love it here.

I lived in Houston for 13 years and DC for the last 4. I know Houston is not Austin but i love it here. I live in Columbia Heights and i spend a lot of time in Mount Pleasant, Adams Morgan, Parkview and Petworth neighborhoods of DC. For restaurants checkout La Tejana (owners are from Austin) for breakfast Tacos, Federalist Pig and Cinder for BBQ, Purple Patch for Filipino, and Le Diplomate for french. For Bars checkout OKPB, Morris and Silver Lyon for cocktails, Midlands, Churchkey and Wundergarten for beer.

Yeah those are key issues. And given the US governments history with these programs I'm not optimistic they'll get them right.
I really want the council to get rid of all single family zoning and incentive private companies to reserve a small percentage of their units for people with vouchers by giving them taxes breaks and further relaxation of zoning laws.

At this point any new housing helps so i guess I'm not opposed to this but i doubt that the DC government has the resources or expertise to run enough public housing to solve this problem. So sure this can help but we really need to build much much more housing and the private sector will most likely be the best option for most of that building.

We get our cats groomed at our Vet, City Paws on 14th. If the cat is very matted it would be best to shave the hair down very short and let it grow back.

Amtrak has a limited number of cheap tickets, $30 to NYC, $20 to Philly, each way. So It depends on how popular your travel date and time is. The earlier you can book the better but I can usually still find the cheap tickets one month out but any later than it gets dicey.
foxy-coxy t1_ir4vrzj wrote
Amtrak is cheap if you book in advance. It's also faster and more comfortable than driving.

This is comparing DC proper to NYC proper. Remember folks NYC proper is not just Manhattan. NYC contains 5 boroughs. NYC is 7 times larger than DC in terms of land area and 12 times larger in terms of population. There is no way DC is cheaper more expensive than Manhattan, but i can believe that DC is on average cheaper more expensive than the Bronx, Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and Manhattan averaged together.

I drive maybe once or twice a month. If it weren't for the metro i would probably drive a couple times a day. The metro is a big part of the reason i moved here.
