Or carbon steel. But I'd bet cast iron would technically outlast them and are probably cheaper.

You could do this with an Arduino, Bluetooth module, amplifier module, speakers and some other miscellaneous stuff.
There are lots of examples on the web. Here's one with funky LEDs.

This may sound odd, but I avoid using negative language like, "don't".
The rationale is that sometimes when you say something like, "Don't do it this way." There is a chance that they will register "Do it this way."
Instead (and I explain why I sometimes speak this way before I start teaching) I say something like, "This is incorrect", or, "This is a bad example."
Those phrases are less correct grammatically, but less likely to be misinterpreted as well.

How did you approach the cook?
We do slow and low, 220F for 30 minutes a pound, finish for about 15 minutes at 500F.
Looks great!!

Cool! I wonder if you could put a backlight in there? Would it do anything to the image?

It's interesting, but whatever works.
They're trying something similar in the Florida Keys for the lionfish invasion. Restaurants will buy them from you (usually from divers) and put them on the menu. Free to take any time, even (especially) in protected waters.

I used to travel a fair bit, and don't miss it at all.
It sounds like most of your downsides are from other people. Visible headphones serve two purposes; decreasing noise (which is surprisingly fatiguing) and sending a message that you don't want to talk that much.
I've used eye covers as well and generally just try to sleep for the flight.
As for boarding and de-boarding, you can try to be last on, last off, or if you can get towards the front, last on, first-ish off. But you can only have a personal item, not a carry on if you try to do this.

I mix it up. I have a few carbon steel that would be too heavy if they were cast iron.
And it's nice to just finish stuff in the oven with them and not have to worry about the weight.
