Town water 100000%. Someone else deals with the maintenance and upkeep... it is much more reliable, it is monitored for safety for you, and overall more robust.
Personal wells are a last resort if you can't get town water. They are finicky, incredibly expensive, prone to bacterial infections and issues... and a pain in the butt.

Reply to Sign this Petition and ask the US Forest Service to “find a better way” for this project. by [deleted]
The forest service has done a pretty impeccable job managing that bit of woods so far. Vermont's forests are healthy and growing. Logging (when done the right way) helps mimic natural disturbances that humans otherwise prevent and can lead to healthier, more diverse, and stronger forests.

And if Vermont kept up with national wages. And if the US fixed it's broken healthcare system that pays billions to health insurance companies to act as useless middlemen that stand between patients and their providers for no reason other than a cash grab.

Fair! I've splurged every now and then for silly meals. Sometimes their worth it, sometimes they're not!
Best fancy food splurge I've had was for Omakase Sushi (where the chef served you curated dishes one after another at the sushi bar). Worth every penny!

The Moscow put-in at the Waterbury Reservoir is really great for this. It's a narrow channel chock full of birds, beavers, muskrat, fish, etc.
Super easy and the good stuff starts right from the put-in.
It does get quite busy on weekends, so I'd recommend going either early morning or in the evening near sunset.
Anywhere on the green river reservoir is pretty excellent.

Reply to Winter warming by Working-Office-7215
Winters are definitely less consistent but there is still plenty of winter to be had. Late Jan- February is typically the winteriest time.
Sometimes we still get good early storms and good late storms, but overall there are more thaws and less consistent snow.
There's still time to enjoy!

I agree it doesn't make major changes. As I noted those are unfortunately politically untenable.
However, it doesn't add levels of regulation, it removes them.

Now match your policy goals with Vermont's political climate.
I agree with many of your proposals but the issue with governments is they are governed by politicians. Vermont has a citizen legislature with no dedicated staff assigned to the legislators. The majority of whom are not educated enough or savvy enough to fully understand the ramifications of complex land use and zoning issues.
It is going to take small steps of improvement to get anywhere. This bill is a leap in terms of Vermont making progress. It's not perfect by any means but it is much much better than nothing.

This bill is largely de-regulation. The state isn't inserting itself into these regulatory procedures, it's limiting what municipalities can regulate (and reducing the purview of act 250).
This by all accounts should help make building in towns and villages easier and more affordable

Vote out the republican Governor that refuses to regulate short term rentals or even have a rental registry.

We should more strictly regulate short term rentals, but not to forward any NIMBY agenda... but instead to open them up for long term rental.

Many people have been calling for wider investments in housing for a decade or more before this came to a head. The governor has vetoed measures that would have aided the crises already.
There are folks fighting the good fight but I agree the obstructionists need to go.
