How weird that the article neglects to mention how the 5 year old was related to the woman arrested. I guess "Child turns in mother" wouldn't pull the same clicks.

Yep.
Back in the day we had a website called thisiswhyyourefat.com, which was just pictures of crazy food concoctions, like the taco meat pizza (an extra large pizza hut hand tossed meat lovers pizza covered in lettuce and sour cream rolled into a giant burrito).
It was glorious.
My one submission was a dozen Double Quarter-pounders with cheese breaded and deep fried. I ate one of them; I thought I was going to die.

Your crystal ball is half right. They will be fired but not charged, then the local police union will force the city to rehire them, they will claim permanent disability due to PTSD over the incident, then retire with pay.

Even the people whose job it is to make things better aren't interested in making things better. If there were a magic wand you could wave to eliminate crime, judges and attorneys and cops would be against it. There would otherwise be no bloated public system for them to work in.
