That's an intense daily discharge if it goes to near zero charge over 11 hours of use. Is that 10am to 3:15pm as screen-on then 4:30 to 8:30 as more screen-on?

I assume the blank area is powered off or on wired power.

If -1 would overflow then the type is unsigned and the if x < 0 check is too late; unsigned < 0 is never true. You must check the magnitude of the subtrahend against the minuend before the operation.
