Follow up question, I wonder what it is like for out of state'ers to have their gas pumped for them. Do they feel it is luxurious or annoying?

It was difficult and awkward the first few times I had to pump gas on my own out of state. Now I have no problem doing it if I need to.

No. You just say "shore" and then say which town and that town is either in Central Jersey or South Jersey.

Because the areas are so different. There are even different accents within the state.

Ok, well then I guess you would just choose whichever place works best for you (where you can find the best location for the rent you can afford) in a location that is accessible to NYC.

Where is your work location in NYC? That makes a lot of difference. Like, do you work in lower manhattan and you will be taking the Holland Tunnel into NYC?
