Reply to Hard Grove is closing today by luxuryparking_
Sorry to see them go, but service was always crummy. Went once when they were on the corner at Grove back in 2011/12 and service was abysmal - chalked it up to the relative lack of competition downtown back then. Gave the new location a go about six months after they reopened - by which time there was many more dining options in the neighborhood - and the service was even worse than before. Never went back. Wish them well in whatever comes next for them.

Reply to Cheap & acceptable haircut - Downtown by MrHarryPits
Go see Carlos on Coles Street. Got my hair cut their for best part of a decade and he was charging $15. I think his prices may have gone up to $20 now, but for a basic short back and sides, he's fast and cheap.

Called the police but everyone left by the time they showed up.
Checks out!

For real? These folks just parked up in the road, locked their car and went into the church?
How is this not an immediate impound offense? That is insane - even by the standards of this very messed up driving town.

Reply to What are they building here on Marin? by usom
There was a nice little grove of trees there that they destroyed in order to facilitate whatever kind of work this is. You don't notice or appreciate little neighborhood embellishments like that until they are taken away.

Mods should be bouncing posts like this.
Not JC related and all ticket scalpers should be encouraged to get lost in the strongest possible terms.

To he fair to him, his construction approval was only for a three storey townhouse, so labor violations are just the cost of doing business. He's hoping the city won't notice that he's deviated from his permit.

Erie Street appears to be their fave dumping ground. See at least one every morning on the walk from Hamilton Park to Newark Ave.

Reply to Landlord raise rent by 20%, citing property tax increase. How bad is the tax increase really? by a_teletubby
Real property tax numbers for you to chew on (two-bed apartment, primary residence, downtown):
2016: $7,279 (pre-reval)
2019: $9,863
2020: $10,917
2021: $$10,876
2022: $14,362 (current)
That's a 97% increase in the space of six years. Given that the jump in the past year alone has been 32%, in not sure you should be too upset about a 20% rent increase.

He listed it for $5m back in 2019. That was a stupid amount of money then. $4m is still a stupid amount of money now.
