Lesbo wasn't considered offensive back then. There are a lot of words that started off inoffensive, but then became considered offensive over time. A century ago "retarded" was considered an actual medical term, and was used in textbooks (it literally means "slow"). Now its very offensive.

People keep posting about this movie on this sub just so people can say its creepy and the director is a pedo. It seems like there have been dozens of posts about this.

Personally I think the movie does get a little questionable at parts, but never crosses a line. Maybe the director wanted things to go further, but other people involved in the movie prevented that from happening.

Putting all that aside, its a good movie.

I think the implication is that poorer people generally have unhappier and less fulfilling lives. So, they're less likely to want to indulge in dark and depressing shows, since their real lives are already depressing enough. Instead, they might prefer lighter escapist stuff to take their minds off their problems.

The 80s was a large part of what made Miami Vice what it was. The music, the clothes, the cars, and the social issues of the time. There are plenty of cop shows, but Miami Vice was an 80s cop show to the extreme. It wouldn't be the same today.
