You are wrong with this..don’t know where you grew up, but everyone I worked with and lived by, never heard of it and if they saw a car or group that were not from around their neighborhood, they would tell them they are out of candy. I make some calls because you make it sound like this was a thing everywhere. Maybe in the deep city.

So, I asked my friend about the 2 bowl candy thing, and he said it just started 5 years ago in his neighborhood. This is their last year of giving out candy because there are no local kids left, they all grew up. He said he actually had a bus pull up on his street and everyone turned their lights off and locked up for the night.

Now I know what my friends were talking about by having separate candy for kids.

A guy I worked with did stuff like that … they were chemical etching tanks. He used some heat gun and plastic welding rod. Made all the hard cuts on a saw with a small small diamond blade set at a certain speed. So it is possible.
