No. They aren't communist like china and they aren't cutthroat capitalist like USA. They are mostly normal centrist with a bit of left and a bit more of right. Basically if the US didn't have a phobia of anything leftist and corporations weren't quite as powerful as far as the economy is concerned. We still have a bunch of unions to keep corporations in check.

Got a couple as fellow students and couple of professors in another city. My home was really close to the border with Hungary so it's mostly them for minorities around there. Might be a few that I just don't know are Bosniaks. It's not really important to me or most people I know around here.

Don't know if there were or weren't such classes elsewhere. Again, can't say much for other parts. Don't really travel around Serbia.

  1. Incompetent and corrupt government.
  2. Memories of the good old days with Tito who could somewhat stop us from killing each other for stupid reasons. Can't say if they really were better but the older people say they were.
  3. Exploitative labor policies that let foreign companies treat workers like crap. Even worse when lower and middle management is ours because you get useless ass kissers in those positions due to nepotism.
  4. Small wages and high prices. You have to spend carefully. Like "Can I afford to buy this fruit yoghurt for almost 1$" kind of carefully. My mother always compares it to Germany where you don't have to worry about how much you are spending on food.
  5. The NATO bombing. We are all of the opinion that it was very much unjustified. And that it ruined our economy because a bunch of factories got destroyed.
  6. Being on the way to EU membership for however long and always getting told it's gonna happen soon. Makes you feel like a clown when it's "just one more thing" everytime we are supposedly about to become members. Because that's how we are told by the government.
  7. Just in general being sort of isolated and look down on by others. It's really troubling seeing how many people are saying that we should have been bombed to oblivion like we aren't human and then call themselves the good guys. If you need proof of the apathy the big players in the west have for people here in the Balkans here is a interesting fact from the whole Bosnia disaster. The USA sent surplus military rations to Bosnia as relief packages. They were from the Vietnam war and were 20 years past the expiration date. Also they were labeled beef while actually being pork... and were given to Muslim people who can't eat pork.

All of this and more is the reason young people get dual citizenship and run away.

What the fuck do you mean denazifying? The Serbian government is corrupt and incompetent, but far from nazis.

There are some socialist policies to help people with healthcare, education, transportation and such. They aren't the best but they are better than nothing. So not far right like the nazis.

As for ethical discrimination, in the north there are classes for Croats so they can learn some Croatian history and stuff as well as Serbian. Also there are high schools that teach some classes in Hungarian for the Hungarians that live in Serbia or decide to study there. Rather considerate.

Some of the more religious people are homophobic but, again in the north, you can easily find people who don't care about that. Just like they don't really care about nationality.

I can't say much about the other parts since I haven't been in many but for the north I can say this from personal experience.

I really don't see how you can claim Serbia is nazi-like when most of the faults are from corruption and incompetence, instead of any racism, militarism or delusions of grandeur.

For everyone losing their shit like it's about go down in the Balkans again, this is normal. It's been happening for a while now. It's empty posturing. At worst it's a distraction from a chemical spill into a river used for drinking water. You know, so people don't find out about how badly they will handle.

At best it's the regular show of "we don't recognize you as a independent state" and "fuck you, we are independent". There is no military in Serbia that could properly fight and win a war. And the government doesn't want to touch that ticking time bomb. It's just to keep the status quo.
