Dumb takes like this are exactly why we need decent independent schools. Like my Daughters 12 person high school is raking in dough and is full of the "elite". Sad generalizations that are not at all reality. Our independent schools are not Exeter Prep and the like good lord. Now let me get back my substantial advantages in the NEK. Jeesh

The heat in my house cares not how many people are inside. Some utilities yes but not all. I would also guess that the major driver in my elec use is water pumps, fans etc all things that would be running regardless. Cheers!

We are with GMP and if it even looks like it might get windy we could lose power. The infrastructure and capacity of the substation here is maxed so much so that they offer extra incentives for having solar along the line here. How on earth they think they can manage all these heat pumps and ev's is beyond me.
I remember just a few weeks ago the generators down in mass wrote a letter to the leg about just this and said there was no way they could keep up with the proposed mandates to move things to electric.

Ya I think of this everytime I have my septic tank pumped and get the add on fee for saving Lake Champlain. Way over here on the other side of the state. The shit even gets spread on a field in NH not VT. It's as if we are governed by morons. Anyone can pop up sat and aerial photos and see where the runoff comes from.

Economics 101. Sliding scale for some means the rest will have to pick up the tab. You can argue about the fairness of it all but the fact remains someone will have to make up for the loss. Most likely larger families like mine that use a fair amount of power. That's what happens when you have five kids. And trust me there ain't no stinking way the power co's will eat it either.
Edit: Also of note the "sliding scale" he speaks of is not the typical one where you pay based on ability it's just on use lower the use lower the rate higher the use higher the rate. I can see the guys down at my local garage loving this with the compressor and welders running all day. Just another boondoggle.

> There will have to be a credit built in for the higher usage driven by clean and efficient heat pumps and electric
Anyone who pays attention to politics knows this is BS. Remember the last time they tried this crap with a similar scheme they were going to give rebates to the poor after spending higher amounts for gas and heating oil. Problem was that required an entire new set of hires and expenses to dole out the cash that had already been spent. The state sure does love creating new administrative bodies. Nothing new.

They force us to use more electricity ev's, heat pumps, stoves, lawn mowers etc. but then want penalties for doing so. Do you like Venezuela? Cause this is how we get there.

Fuck you Rama always stirring up shit. You as well as I know no crime had been committed then. The guys are scumbags sure but this is still America and we have rights. Can't just start witch hunts without evidence which is what the Governor was trying to express. I suspect you know all this though and that makes it worse. You also chopped the most important part of the quote off to suit your agenda. Here it is in full:
“But if it doesn't rise to the level of criminal offense, what would you suppose we should do?”
Knock it off asshole.

They should just close the whole place down anyways. After all it is on "unceeded" land. But the funny thing is in time these proggy's will have the same fate. What they idealize today will be hated by them in the future. Mead was progressive for his time perhaps in time my children will see the names of those pushing the trans ideology face the same fate by another group of well meaning but brainwashed useful idiots.

You need to get out more touch some grass or something. Try taking a trip outside your bubble of preconceived notions of what republicans are or are not especially here in VT.
Head east on RT.2 from ST. J. right into the belly of red county Vermont. When in Concord stop at the Moose Look for lunch see if you can hear any of these vile, violent, racist bigoted authoritarian world views you so decry. Then if you have not been lynched yet by Jim-bob and his cousins from the holler continue on to Lunenburg another Trump 2016 town and stop in to meet the new Selectman who was elected with a huge majority. Maybe ask him if anyone cares that he's gay? Not that it matters but it sure smashes a few stereotypes of the area. Hit the town store while you are at it lots of lively talk in there. Maybe you will find some of this vile crap you speak of but doubtful.
Most of us vile republicans (more like classic liberals these days) are more worried about our jobs, the constant bills the left tries to push down or throats that negatively impact our lives like preventing our kids from using school choice as they have for decades. The forced merger stuff closing our schools the new smart heat bill or whatever that boondoggle is called or the next and the next. Then head up past Guildhall into Granby and say hi to our State Rep. Terry Williams who actually works for us and picks up the phone to hear our concerns. Maybe continue up to Canaan another spot you likely have never been. Oh and how would I love for your car to break down. Within a few min you probably would have more than one of these vile persons pulled over to help you out.
Take that trip Rama and write back about it. Might change your view a bit.

There is a lot wrong with cop city but these clown protestors can suck an egg as well. I read the article then looked for facts. Most contradict the claims laid out. There is no mass displacement no ones homes are being taking etc. etc.. Plenty to be pissed about but stick to facts and no all 380 acres wont be developed either. And close womens prisions?? What?? Guess what Jayna some of you women are foul murderous creatures that belong behind bars. Sorry but your vagina does not equal a get out of jail free card. And you expect people to take any of this seriously? And I shouldn't say woke about this either right??

Then there is another issue I would take with all this as well and that is why should the govt have a list of my appliances like heat pumps etc that may or may not qualify for a different rate as suggested in the article. There really is an issue with collecting and qualifying it. Imagine the cost of keeping and collecting all that info. Only new heat pumps or what about one you had installed 2 years ago are you out of luck? Who will verify the claims as I am sure many will be tempted to claim more new items to lower the bill? That's just human nature. I agree with much of the intent of these bills but as usual I find them to not be well thought through and completely ignoring of collateral consequences.
