I read a lot of dystopian fiction, and I think absurdism is a coping mechanism. It adds some dark humor, but definitely not funny.

I loved both the book and audio production. The movie, no.

At my mom’s house my dogs could retreat to one of 2 bedrooms that all guests were forbidden to enter. Sometimes I found my stepdad in the sanctuary space with them!

I generally have one novel and one audiobook in progress, and I always have a collection of short stories and short fiction podcasts too. It just depends on my workload and activities.

Yes! I found them in a used shop as a teen in the 80s and recently purchased in digital for re-reading. They’ve aged really well.

As a librarian, I often recommend these to young fans and for parents. I wish they’d been around when I was a young horror fan. I read a lot of the Alfred Hitchcock collections, and I am still a devoted short story reader.

Reply to How to read more books and less fanfiction? by ccRumandChickenWings
I go through spells of reading fan fiction, usually on AO3. When I’m stressed out or busy, their archive is easy access and there’s always something interesting there. I also enjoy various short fiction and specifically the stories that re-work or offer a twist on fairytales and myths. Ellen Datlow is one of my favorite editors of short fiction anthologies, and her books are widely held in public libraries.
