Reply to Do you feel unmotivated to read a book when you've already watched the movie? by Maxinprogress
It depends how much I enjoyed the adaptation. If I really enjoyed it, it will often push me to read the book sooner. If I just fairly enjoyed it, I'll often not be as interested in reading the book.

Reply to Do you guys count DNF’d books as read? by omahyv
Personally, I do, because it has a negligible impact in my reading records, as I DNF so few books. Since the start of 2020 I have read over 130 books, and only DNFd two of them. I read at least 1/4 of those two books, so I feel I gave them a fair chance.
If I quit a book really early, ie less than 1/4 of the book or 100 pages (whichever is shorter) then I wouldn't bother to track it.

Reply to What do you do with a book when the writing is good but the premise is dreadfully old fashioned? by frangipaniplumeria
Why are you reading it? If you're reading it purely for fun, and it's not providing that, then stop. If you are reading to study beautiful prise then it may still have value.

Reply to Do I give up on this book? by GOLDSK24
Your goal is to get back into reading. Would continuing to read this book help or hinder that goal? To me, it sounds more likely to make you quit reading.
If you don't want to quit it just yet, put it on hold. Read a third book. Once you finish thay one, you could pick this one back up, or move onto the next. You don't have to make a forever decision right now.
