No I don’t think this is bad. Reading of any kind is a good habit. Even if it is only one page a day.

I’m regularly in the habit of reading when I only have a few minutes, which will lead to me only reading a page or 2 at a time.

I’ve always had a good experience with Thriftbooks. I haven’t purchased textbooks specifically, but all the books I have gotten from them were in conditions exactly if not better than how they described. Chances are things that are acceptable or good will have a few cover creases or maybe some highlights. I’ve never gotten something unreadable from them. Definitely a good option for cheep used books!
