The rent on these is set at fair market (FMR) and they lease for $1,200 month. What do you pay for rent?

Row houses or duplexes, both of which would share a wall, would be better on noise and smell than detached units? Have you been eating paint chips again?

The cost to construct these is not much more than an apartment complex. At this time it costs anywhere from $200k to $250k a unit to build an apartment and I’ve seen budgets that go as high as $300k a unit. That’s one reason rent is so high. Well that and Dover NH taxes are prohibitively high.

I’m the treasurer of a local area agency here in NH (mental health/development disability) and the issue of pay is a huge deal right now. I think that most state agencies that function with a volunteer board of directors do in fact try everything we can to get more money in our employees hands. However, part of the problem is that funding is usually in the form of contracts and reimbursement rates for Medicaid/Medicare that are not sufficient to pay people market rates for services rendered. Another huge issue from my perspective is that much of the government grant funds are not sustainable and are one-time in nature. We get asked by the state to start programs, build facilities, hire staff, etc. for initiatives that have no clear sustainable source of funding. It’s not efficient or fair to the people we would need to hire to staff the programs (assuming we could hire anyone).
Thank you for your service to the state, please know that it is appreciated.

I agree that people can get irrationally upset about Eversource cutting trees in their own property. However, they have massively improved in maintenance. In the 80’s and 90’s the outrages were so much worse in my experience

It’s hard to cut down trees as aggressively as some would suggest. Lots of people get pretty upset when it’s a tree on their own property.

That’s ridiculous, we have no idea what snow making technology will be like in even just ten more years.

Her father is a multimillionaire that could literally buy and sell you hundreds of times over, but it was society that is forcing her to be homeless.

I’ve never bought recreational weed in VT, but I can say that Maine does a far superior job than Massachusetts. If you’ve only been to MA, you have to make the pilgrimage to Maine. It is sooo much cheaper!

Electricity is bought and sold in a regional marketplace, it’s not state specific as far as I know. Northern Pass would have added another source of power increasing competition in the market place and lowering costs regionally. States like Massachusetts and New York will purchase more power because they consume more power.

Too bad we could never build a new natural gas pipeline in New England. We couldn’t even figure out a way to get northern pass done and that was hydroelectric power.
