If you like being bored and disappointed. A commenter already suggested your best bet. The coast or the woods. There is nothing in Bangor you probably can't find at home.

The accuracy, I used to live in the area and had a woman I was seeing at one point who had to temporarily live in a studio on 1st while her rental company finished her new place. Long story short, there were multiple times I had to physically stop junkies from breaking in at two or three in the morning, thinking we were the dealer who lived right upstairs. That whole section of the city is a cesspool.

I've seen it just in my life. I'm only 30 and when I was a kid I remember having white Halloweens. Now it's NYE and we're looking at highs of 55 next week. Not normal.

Man, I can't tell you how often people poke fun at me for constantly locking my car and apartment out of habit after it being a necessity for about four years. I could be at a friends house in the middle of the woods, or running into a gas station for five minutes, and it's still getting locked to this day.

It is wild how different Maine is from a lot of places. I remember when I lived out west for a while, I saw a woman on the side of the road with her car at night. Had a friend who was local, born and raised, with me. I go to slow down. He looks at me.
"What are you doing?"
"Stopping to see if she needs help."
"So we can get robbed and murdered by some gangbangers hiding in the shadows? Keep fucking driving, you aren't in Kansas anymore."
Come to find out that type of stuff was really common in that area and there was a good chance with this situation that she was a lure. I remember him giving me the low down on shit to look out for and avoid. 23 year old Mainer at the time I thought I knew some things but didn't he prove me wrong.

Oh, it's awful, the amount of people I've seen straight up wack their kids on the back of the head or something at restaurants or out at the grocery store for just being a kid. I remember years ago I was eating Chinese with a friend, and this family came in and were immediately just.... trashy. The waitress is taking their orders, and they get to this boy that looks broken at like seven years old. "Mom," whaps him on the head and goes, "Well, tell her what you want dumbass."
Multiple tables spoke up, and even the waitress spoke up, and they freaked out to the point of them leaving. It wasn't a win, though, because that kid just ended up having to go right back to whatever hellhole those "parents," had him in.
All the while yelling about how parents nowadays are pussies yadda yadda. Shit like that is not uncommon in rural areas.

I mean... chicken or the egg. I heard the term millennial used as just a generational label before it was ever used in a derogatory sense. I like Millennial, it's indicative of coming of age during... the millennium. Gen Y is bland and boring. Boomers get shit on, too, but they're still baby boomers. 😂 So I disagree. It's wild, though, how you found an issue with everything in the post except. The main topic, which was literal child abuse.

Sometimes, I forget millennials encompass as far back as 1980. Not the best with time. Shoot me 🤷♂️. Also, younger millenials are just now having kids as they enter their 30's and very late 20's. So, the statement is still technically correct. But that's not really the point of the thread, is it?

Growing up in Maine in the 90s was like growing up in the rest of the country in the 40s and 50s. Millennials are now having kids, and the culture is changing, but it's still very frequent. Isolated, generally uneducated, and a lot of people being poor and miserable and just pumping out kids to get a check. This doesn't surprise me in the least.
Some of the shit I saw growing up in Maine and even out and about in public nowadays with knuckle draggers and their kids was/is jaw-dropping. Especially in the weirder backwoods places where incest/ sexual abuse of children is very common even though most people keep it Maine's dirty little secret. Wouldn't want to scare the tourists away.

Brother, you have no idea. Some people are really cool, but some of the worst people I've dealt with in retail have been in cannabis. People that are too dumb to understand we aren't a trap house and have rules and laws we have to follow. As well as people that think the people working at the store are for whatever reason responsible for the strains we have.
A lot of nuts that think that we're watching them to report them to the DEA or Maine state government. It's unreal the stupidity.
