My MIL has been a teacher in the same school system for 16 years. She hates going to work, and cannot deal with the way kids behave now and how admins handle situations that involve teachers and student conflicts. Many teachers she started with have retired or left the teaching career. At this point she’s just holding out for a couple more years til she can retire comfortably.

Plum Tomato is way too fucking expensive for how inconsistent their pizza is. Oakdale Pizza is probably the best choice in the area and Salem Prime Cuts has the best grinders anywhere that side of the state.

You’re in the middle of the woods, there aren’t a ton of blow your socks off restaurants out there unfortunately.

Yeah it’s a pain in the ass, since it’s out of state you’ll have to temp reg it in CT then go to emissions then go back with proof of taking the test. FYI, it doesn’t even need to pass emissions for the reg, just needs to show you went to get into the state database.

When your registration was up around 2001 you’d get a “replacement plate” sticker to put on the upper right of the plate. Then when you paid the registration renewal the new plates came, it had the new expiration sticker and plates in an envelope. Then you mailed the old ones back in the envelope the new ones came in. But, at the time many vehicles didn’t have 2 plates, maybe some had theirs in a garage and never sent both back. I know the car I had the front plate got mangled in a fender bender so I only sent one back.

The new plates are more reflective. Some people kept their old blue plates, I’m not sure how because at the time you were supposed to mail the old ones back once you got the new ones. But, as long as the registration is valid don’t think anyone cares now.

Yeah, a house down the road from me, it’s a total piece of shit. Sold in a week. 2 Bed, 1 bath, 850 sq ft built on a 1/2 acre and never updated since 1950. Sold for $192,000. That house was barely valued at $100k 4 years ago.

Yeah I’ve been around Middletown for 10+ years now for work and Ive made it to the point where the guys that usually ask for change just say hi to me and move on. Funny, a couple of months ago one of the usual suspects was walking with a guy I never seen before, as he begins to approach me I hear the other guy tell him I don’t do handouts and he walks away and nods at me. Found that kind of polite and funny.
