Reply to Are any of you in an in-person book club? by dwigtttt
My local library hosts one every month. The librarian hosts it at the library. People will sometimes bring a snack to share and your welcome to bring a beverage of your choice.
We take turns rating the book, 1 to 10 stars and give a reason or two for that rating. She has a list of questions that we sometimes talk about. If we think any of them are dumb, we skip it. Sometimes a member will have a few questions they bring in to talk about. We have also been known to veer wildly off topic.
It goes on for about an hour, we find out about the next book we’ll be reading and depart. We tried a few over Zoom during the ‘Vid and I did not enjoy that as much as the in person meetings.

Reply to Advice after dog attack by MeanFluffyBunny
I would absolutely file a report with the police. It would seem as though you have a dangerous dog living in your neighborhood and this needs to be reported. Maine has leash laws for public roads. I would guess if it hasn’t happened already, it’s only a matter of time before a person gets attacked.
I hope your dog is okay and I’m really sorry this happened to them. It’s a terrifying ordeal.

Ushuaia doesn’t exist anymore; it was a club in Orono. Geaghan Brothers is always good.

They’re fine for wearing around town but not great for hiking, camping or any kind of winter outdoor activity. And they do suck on ice unless you have something like Yak Tracks you add yourself.

Reply to Why are Colleen Hoover books so divisive? by sunnywatermelon18
I have only read one book by CoHo and it just wasn’t for me. I don’t enjoy her writing style or her “romance” storylines. The editing isn’t my favorite, either. That being said, I won’t read anymore of her books but I also don’t judge people who do enjoy her. I am a huge fan of Sarah J. Maas, who also gets a lot of flack from people. I say read what you like and people who judge you for it can stuff it!
