I live in a town of 600 people, it's a good chance to talk with people you don't often see, have a say in town business, and be directly involved in the democracy that affects you most, local policy's. It's an interesting/quaint Vermont tradition, gives you a chance to vote on representatives, gives floor time for you to ask questions to them and bring up matters that concern you for discussion with elected and other residents.

Generally state workers (DOT, teachers, etc) are given the day off. Most working in the private sector do not get the day off.

This is from The Backyard restaurant in Stowe, been there, some great food ( tater tots loaded with cheese and rib meat, yum). I can say after setting that great expectation for the urinal, it was rather ordinary looking. You'd expect an artisan handcrafted/welded urinal or something not the cookie cutter porcelain ones like they have XD

This. As a hiker I've run into them on the trail. They linger at mountain summits where people stop for snacks. The birds will often snatch trail mix or your sandwich whether you offer it to them or not, they're bold and are colloquially known as camp robbers. Like blue jays, they stash food under tree bark for eating later.

And this is why I like dirt roads better, if they get a pothole then the town grader comes by and flattens them out not long after. Or in the case of the class IV road I live on, I'll just fire up my tractor and do it myself XD

Most providers only go a few towns over due to shipping costs. Call around whomever is nearby and get costs.

Sites like this list prices, unfortunately none for Vermont, but give you a general idea if you're being scalped or not https://www.newenglandoil.com/newhampshire/zone1.asp?x=1
