I watched this a couple of times, the pedestrian did not look. I look both ways twice even on one way streets. It is horrible the bus driver hit her/him but it was reported that the person was not hurt. I don't have a car, and don't even drive so I walk alot, especially when I was younger. I am always very careful, do not jaywalk and won't cross a street until I am sure the driver sees me and is stopping. The van driver is an idiot too because this is is a college campus and there are going to be pedestrians. Both were careless.

They can be suspect in that they often use deceptive advertising. Many are for profit companies and if you look closely only a small percentage of monies , if any, are donated to charity. They do recycle the material though and make a profit.

If you have never relied on a car , you will find Providence easy to get around. It is very walkable and the busses are ok. Most naysayers here have a car and cannot conceive of an existence without one. Just find a location that is centrally located to a neighborhood, yeah it is expensive, but you are going to save a lot of money by not having a car. Bonus: Providence is on the commuter rail to Boston, so it is great to take advantage of that city. Also RIPTA goes to Newport and the beaches so you can get your nature fix pretty easily. Providence is a great little city without a car.

Jesse Smith library in Burrillville is a beautiful space overlooking a river, and there is a nearby waterfall and park. They have lots of children's activities too.
