Sure, some brave folks are involved in the black market, but not most people.
They still have less interaction overall.

But their population is also very rural and spread out, with little travel or interaction outside of local communities (you need a travel pass to even leave your village), and demographics that skew young.
Although the military could be an important vector due to their omnipresence and relative mobility. But they're also all young and relatively fit.
I would think the elites, living their somewhat more modern lives in Pyongyang, would be the most at risk. I assume only the very very elite (i.e. Kim and friends) have access to the kind of healthcare needed to offset the risk of living in an urban setting.

The essentially infinite recycling potential of nickel packs is better for the planet, though. And since they can be recycled easily, you should be able to get more money for a dead pack.

Yeah, when it's bullshit like this that's clearly just companies lobbying the government to keep the common man down, I have no problems ignoring it.
Even just basic traffic laws, in my city (Toronto) the cops don't bother with any enforcement except the occasional speed trap. I've heard it's a form of protest on their part that's been going on for years.
Most people still obey most of the time, because it makes traffic flow better and keeps everyone safer. But if I need to turn left during a timed no-left restriction, I don't have a problem doing it. As long as it's not unsafe and I have a decent reason.

Realistically, though, it doesn't prevent anything.
The odds of them finding out are very low, and bringing a succesful suit even lower (especially with a 10 year NDA over a school project -- it would be easy to get that thrown out as unreasonable).
They're basically just relying on the fact that most people are good people and will largely follow the rules. It's amazing how much of society depends on that assumption, really.

Should have given it to the feds instead, so he could at least get immunity. Unless he's in a country where it doesn't matter...
Even if you're not American, if your government has given you immunity, I don't think you can be extradited for the same crime. Your government would just refuse the request.

The workers are actually part-owners. They accepted stock as partial payment, and that stock is now worth less because the company's performance is slipping.
Ownership always has risks, as it should be.

Was genuinely shitting bricks till I learned that all the Canadian ones are fine. Immobilizers have been mandatory here for a long time.
Still glad I bought the Club, though. Even if the immobilizer stops them, they're still gonna fuck up the ignition/steering column/etc in the attempt. Hopefully a very visible lock will convince them not to bother trying.

I guess the only argument left is the right to self-determination under international law, and the "let's see you stop us" school of thought.
If they want independence badly enough, they're gonna have to just leave and let the cards fall where they may.

The US is planning a new base farther north in Alaska (the current one is in Anchorage). This would be plenty close enough to strike whatever they want in eastern Russia and to defend the arctic.
Besides, they have bombers and missiles with enough range to go anywhere.
