College Hunks Hauling Junk is super available and not very expensive, for a private hauling option. Alternatively, if your 311's are getting ignored, try contacting your ANC Rep. That worked for me when somehow my clearly marked stuff couldn't be found.

My car yells an awful lot if the fob leaves the car, so you better have a good 40 time or you're still gonna be hit again.

I was once listing a sublease on Craigslist and got a too-good-to-be-true offer from someone who was going to pay me a few months' rent to help them get on the lease when they couldn't appear in person. I probably responded a little longer than I should have before bailing out, but I've always wondered what the eventual scam was.
It was a dirt cheap lease in Cincinnati more than a decade ago, so even being as broke as I was, I had an urge to "pay to see."

Boss makes a dollar and I make a dime works for a long time.
But, I also had the experience doing organizing in tough areas for progressives. First realize that in the vast majority of places at least a third of people did vote for Biden. Then bring it back to the work you're doing and why it matters to you and them. Hit the personal story of why your topic matters.

Not knowing exactly what you do, I always try to make it as relatable as possible. No one in the normal world is actually going to quiz you that hard if you say "I work on helping big companies provide good jobs." Everyone likes that, it's not in opposition to anything, and not what Fox News or Newsmax talk about. Could be harder for your field, but usually there's a super simple positive pitch.
When it comes to what you do, that can be harder if you have an "email job." But I find bitching about the boss is basically universal. So, "yeah I have to deal with a lot of stupid meetings, but it's worth it because sometimes I can help make (x) happen."

Oh, old DC had a movement to reform it's criminal justice system based on a modern a understanding of criminology? All while most of old DC was not administered by DC residents.

I personally voted for the "armed robbery abolitionist" party. I'd also like you to actually cite the provision that was changed to make this possible.

Cops have come and said as much on this subreddit. They won't do their jobs because their feelings got hurt. But also they expect overtime.

Oh man, I remembered that there was a scandal and I got a bit caught up in the anger at the time, but boy does that look trivial in retrospect. Did he do something else, too? Like some worker issue maybe. I might be confusing that with another local restaurant guy.
Anyway, Grazie Grazie is solid. I wouldn't say best in the city for myself, but very good.

Yeah on my old morning commute I'd just walk down to the front regardless. The spare minute or two weren't worth the hassle.
I hated my job, never scheduled a meeting before 10, and could avoid my boss until 11. It was actually pretty nice.
Evenings, though, I had the racing lines through the station down to a science.

Agreed, the cops have gotten especially lazy and insolent, and we should fire many of them. But it took how many months to clean house in Uvalde? So odds are we'll be sticky with this crop for years.

Lol, not my point at all. Lazy cops existed then and they exist now. It's always been on normal folks to take steps to make it easy as possible if you want any hope of getting their help.

Yeah learn to get plates. It's not so hard if you practice a little. If you notice a car, try to take their number. You'll learn the state patterns, which also helps.
When I was moving into my first condo, my home inspector got sideswiped on the street. He was freaking out and I had to tell him like three times, "I saw the plate." He finally calmed down, realized what I was saying, and after he called 911, they'd found the driver less than 30 minutes later.
Then he inspected the shit out of that condo!

What does that have to do with anything? You would still need the government to register and issue a plate, regardless of when and where it occurs. This is because car dealers want a step less friction to sell their wares.
