I respect your opinion on the book ,but disagree with speaking for other senior military officers ,they may entirely agree with you or only partially agree,or even may agree with the author.But that depends on each officers personal experiences not all are the same,I say this with great respect.

Read Iris Changs book "The Rape of Nanking " over 200,000 men where slaughtered over 20,000 rapes by Japanese soldiers.And Japanese invaded because they wanted China and Korea,conquest very simple.

I recently read Facing the Mountain:An Inspiring Story of Japanese American Patriots in World War 2 by Daniel James Brown ,it tells of both Interned and Soldiers of Japanese American decent who fought in World War 2

I really liked a short biography by Edmund S. Morgan of Yale University only 354 pages, much more philosophical in nature trying to understand Franklin's true beliefs.Gorden Wood called it "the best short biography ever written"

On Napolean might start author Adam Zamoyski who wrote a biography and 1812:Napoleans fatal march,or Dominic Lieven's Russia against Napolean,and David Gates 1803-1815 the Napoleanic Wars or Gates The Spainish Ulcer.

You might look at biographies by Phillip Short of Mao,Pol Pot ,and his recent one of Putin.And also R.J.B. BOSWORTH works on Mussolini and Italy.

I read "Great Triumvirate " many years ago mostly cause of Acedemic Historian and author Merrill Peterson ,who was famous for his works on Thomas Jefferson .I remember feeling he strived to be fair to all 3 subjects ,though Calhoun because his race beliefs was difficult. Peterson is an excellent author and writes great books. I've also read Brands a historian from University of Texas , though I haven't read this specific book,Triumvirate is from 1987 ,Founders is 2018,personally I favor Triumvirate just enjoyed reading the author easier.
