I think people were of the mindset that video games were for kids because if you think about it gaming at home has not been around that long. Now we are getting to the point that we actually have people in their 50's that are lifelong gamers. Give it another 30 years and the trope will be. "Gaming? That's for in the retirement home". I don't know about you but I sure as hell plan on spending my late 60's, (maybe 80's if I stop eating garbage), in the old folks home pwning those cocky 50 year old punks.

A very good example of this is people who are against Compass Pings being added to Dark and Darker. They could just not bind a ping button and never use them. The real issue is that they just don't want to lose the clear advantage they get from being on discord.

A valid point. In the current situation I won't jump to that conclusion though. Mainly because the current state and size of this gaming industry is unprecedented. At least when referring to the releasing of unfinished broken products.

It's just a matter of watching the giants of the industry fail. If people stop buying from the AAA studios it will allow for new companies to rise. Ones that will not want to repeat the mistakes that lead to the failures of their predecessors.
