I thought that they were created by mixing angus and shorthorn. But that could be another breed I’m thinking of in fairness. I think that there is one herd of them here in Ireland, but most people wouldn’t know what the hell you’re on about if you mentioned the breed to them lol. It’d be interesting to even get a crossbred one sometime to see how they are :]

Angus just had/have like, really good marketing I think, in the US anyway. I agree that hereford is better. Murray Greys aren’t in Ireland (on a large scale at least), but I have heard that they’re pretty damn good. If you get the chance, maybe try some beef from a heritage breed - such as a dexter, galloway, droimeann, or highland - heritage breeds tend to produce really good quality stuff

You aren’t wrong. Herefords are well known for their beef.

Ooh best of luck with them! They should be far cheaper to keep and get than cattle, so at least that. They’re cute little things too!!

Yeah it’s nice to pet them haha. I wouldn’t recommend petting cattle without the owners permission (incase the cattle don’t like people), but maybe you could pet a calf/cow if you went to an open farm, petting zoo, or something like that :]

If you don’t like the posts, blocking Lnfinity will get rid of the vast majority of them, and blocking me will get rid of the rest (or just about). If you don’t mind them that’s fine too

If you don’t like the gif, you should block me (that’ll stop you from seeing my posts anywhere), although the majority of farm animal gifs posted here are from Lnfinity so blocking them would probably get rid of most of the gifs you don’t like seeing! I blocked them so I can’t see how often they post here, but I’m guessing it’s as often as ever. Hope that helps :]

That’s fine! I was moreso saying that as you’re under the impression that I make money. And under the impression that I raise them. Milk??! Lol, unfortunately not! Raising angus (and herefords… especially herefords) for milk would be like a beef farmer breeding miniature jerseys for beef! Sure, it’s technically possible, but it wouldn’t pay you to turn the milking parlour on. Fortunately, they aren’t exploited! Honestly, I don’t think I’ll respond to you from here on - you’re too negative! I’ve also got a Pokemon game to play. I hope you brighten up soon! Great days to you, I hope! x 😁

I am actually a human, not a business! I do think you are overestimating mainly my age but also how much I own. I haven’t made a profit from cattle in my life, seriously! Not a single brown cent. I do say that it’s irrelevant, because it is! They’re happy, they’re healthy, you’re the only one of the lot with an issue !! You need to brighten up a bit - go outside for a walk, maybe? Listen to a good song.. draw something.. that sort of stuff is usually good for the head, I find. I hope you enjoy a wonderful, lovely day! 💞😊

So it’s good that that topic isn’t relevant here! Please complain to whatever bull she is with about any issues with reproduction! Bulls aren’t the best listeners though. Perhaps you could bribe him with a bucket of ration.. or another bulling heifer.. as long as she can healthily raise and wants to raise them, she’s going to raise her calves! Sometimes s##t happens where they cannot or will not, but that isn’t too common with anguses compared to the likes of a friesian. Can’t say if she will be used for food eventually, either way it’d be after a long/easy life if so! Not sure what you mean by head in the clouds, but if caring for my mental health is that.. happily! :3

Bit of a jump there, to be honest! Tags are pretty much painless, prevent disease spread, and help with ID (across the entire EU - that also helps with disease spread), I am not sure what you’re issue with them is? You sound like you’re having a bad day! You should brighten up a bit - check out r/wholesome or r/awww maybe, there could be something nice there! Genuinely, being so negative can’t be good for you mentally. I don’t think it’s good for anyone. It definitely wasn’t for me, anyway. All that matters is that the calf is happy and healthy, and she is! 😊

Well, aside from being legal requirements, the tags are pretty much painless! Kind of like earrings, except actually useful. You’re going to have to complain to whatever bull she’s with when old enough about any issues with breeding you may have. Although, between you and me, I don’t think that he’ll listen.. She’s happy and healthy as is, so I do think that she’s doing fine 😁

The yellow ones takes a flesh sample when equipped, that’s tested for disease in a lab. The sample is tiny.
The white one is an electronic tag, able to be scanned by a vet (I assume some other officials too) for relevant information on the animal, like their breed, date of birth, etc.
Having two is good in case one of them is pulled off of the ear, so it can be replaced. Also they’re easier to read that way, seeing as there’s a tag on both sides of the head. All cattle in the EU have to have 2 tags (if they lose one it’s fine, just should be replaced pretty quickly)

Angus cattle can be black or red. Red’s a recessive gene in the breed. The vast majority here in Ireland are black, but reds are getting somewhat more popular. There’s no difference aside from the hair/skin colour. I prefer the reds because they’re nicer to look at.
A lot of breeds that can be black can also be red, like friesians, highlands, droimeann, etc. But there’s other ones that are only red, because red to red only breeds red (while black to black can breed red if they’re both carriers of the red gene)
In the US (maybe elsewhere too?) the reds and blacks are registered as different breeds but that’s stupid. It was just started for the sake of “breed uniformity”
