It's a civil war, my dude, the government has been bombing anywhere there's resistance.
There was another nuclear reactor that was breeding fissile material that was destroyed by the Israeli air force.
Joudco's steel plant specifically was destroyed by the regime because "rebels" were "hiding" there.

Yeah, we should reconsider them as international partners. Plenty of other "low cost" regions with internet these days...

Last time I checked Damascus was a closely-protected jewel while Assad was dropping chlorine bombs on his less desirable cities.

The previous power plants, and steel mills, by the way, were previously destroyed by the current regime while attempting to stay in power.

I would actually have to build a roof on top of my roof, about $15k, because I have fancy Spanish metal tiles which currently have 20 years remaining on their warranty (out of 50). The new roof would be plywood with a 5 year warranty.
Alternatively I could replace my whole roof with compatible tiles for $45k.... Or I could wait 5-10 years for solar shingles to make more sense.

Gasoline takes approximately 5 kWh/gal to refine and transport to the consumer's gas tank. That's about 15 miles in my Leaf.

These would be very vulnerable to CIWS or Iron Dome type defenses.

This is going to get more common. My company is starting to feel the expense/inefficiency of returning to office while still having fully remote employees. The logistics and overhead are costly.
