Again, a vastly different experience to just about every single train ride I've ever taken. If it's ever late there's another one or it's like a few minutes, which in DC traffic especially around this thing you'll have more than that anyway.

Like I said, believe what you will about the drive through, we can disagree. Idk what metro you're riding but the one in the dmv is nothing near a hassle, not even close to what I would call filthy for a public space, and I find to be a lovely experience every time.

Assuming this was Thursday, then to me sitting right adjacent, the traffic was angry, and most of it was looking for parking. just seeing trees from a car window seems both like a waste of time and boring to me, but sure, if it's just for a pretty road to drive to somewhere else, then it's almost as convenient as taking the metro, and maybe almost as good of an event as actually seeing the trees and spending time with the environment.
Whatever you wanna believe I guess dude.

I would argue basically everyone is considering the metro system exists

How could you not imagine it? I haven't had a car in a year and I'm not even in the densely populated district but nova. It's super easy

I'm not comfortable driving in an angry mob of traffic, especially when the other option is walking fifteen minutes after sitting calmly on the train, which then had me beat my friends who drove there by about forty minutes while they had to find parking

I mean I found getting there on the metro and meeting people who already had a spot for our blankets and stuff was really easy and super lovely

That's fine, I feel like I said that wrong and implied I was advocating specifically that, I don't get the redundancy, not that I dislike alphanumeric systems

No, I get all that, my question is really about the redundancy, alpha numeric designations are partially very good because they allow for repeated usage of the numbers. So doing both seems unnecessary and I was wondering if there was a specific reason behind that

So basically I was asking if there was a greater reason than redundancy for the sake of redundancy itself, someone else brought up the former gate specific security, which would greatly increase the cost of any error

If you're familiar with the airport the number does the exact same thing, and everything is written out and also why we have a phonetic alphabet. I understand those basic "reasons" but each of them is a problem in name only or which has already been fixed capably by maps and Aviation writ large in general. This is why most airports I go to use the basic letter number system, as though it were a file system (a1, A2, b1, b2, etc)

Right, but with how simple reagan is, I feel like either the numbers can repeat easily enough, or the map does a pretty good job, as it's just counting upwards basically from one side of the airport to the other

I mean same, but most places I've seen use it as intended, the letter is upper classification, then the number is specific, so both a and b have 1 through 10 or whatever

Right, and maybe it's just me, but seeing a map that is a line where the numbers go up in order makes it pretty simple to find where 58 is.

Yeah, but so does the number. Because that's how a map labeled with numbers/names works. Especially since they're in numerical order down the line.

Most of my friends kind of expect me to be driven home, even though I tend to try and tell them no whenever I'm leaving rather than taking rides (I prefer the solitude trips), but we also sort of all live near each other

Considering it's not uncommon for trains to get stuck behind one another already, this just seems like skipping stops (including mine, thus my bias) for an insignificant time saving

You mean like how the trains are peaceful and run so often I literally never have to check when they're coming, just like in a real civilized city?
