I agree that jails and prisons are incredibly demoralizing places. I worked as a police officer in my past and hated going there. That said, not everyone is like you and I, and if that young man wants to do that kind of work, I believe it's his right to do so.

So many able bodied people refuse to work today. I respect this kid. I'm sure he'll move on to a better career in time, and this could be a valuable stepping stone for him.

I understand what you're saying, you make some valid points. However, it was the CDC who initially said the vaccine would prevent both contracting the virus and spreading the virus, I saw multiple videos in which Rochelle walensky and Tony fauci said this directly. Fauci also said early on that masks would be virtually useless in preventing the spread, then he said everyone should wear a mask, then he said people should wear 2 masks. The science didn't change, the messaging did. There are definitely good people at the CDC, but leadership is clearly hyper political and intermingled with big Pharma.

I'd like to think the CDC was just incompetent, but their manipulation of data and highly inconsistent messenging is very concerning. It needs to be investigated.

I'm not hyper partisan at all. I listen to reasonable intelligent people with an open mind. If you had to put me in a box, I'd call myself a libertarian. I think Trump is a buffoon, I also think Joe Biden is a buffoon and is often incoherent. It's stunning to me that these two men both became president of the United States.

Ironic, what's so naive to the point that it's laughable are those people who believe in socialism and massive government.

I didn't say there should be no government regulation, I said government should be limited. The ultra wealthy corporations and individuals you rail against, are you aware that they use government to enrich themselves even further? Rich donors control both parties, don't fool yourself into believing far left politicians have your best interests at heart. They don't.

I'm one of those dirty libertarians who both democrats and republicans love to hate.

I think government is largely and inherently inefficient and corrupt, so I strongly believe they should stay in their lane and stick to the 18 enumerated powers limited to the federal government in article 1 section 8 of the Constitution.

I also don't care who you marry, what drugs do you want to use, if own an AR15, or if you want to have an abortion. I believe in economic freedom and social freedom. I know, that makes me some kind of radical I guess...

I suppose we just fundamentally disagree. It's not an assumption, it's a certainty, if taxes are increased on energy companies, those taxes are passed along to the consumer in higher prices.

Additionally, the current Administration has created an environment that is very unfriendly, bordering on hostile, toward fossil fuel companies. The energy companies are reluctant to invest in expensive infrastructure improvements and expansions, when government can pull the plug at any time on permitting, such as Joe Biden did with the Keystone XL Pipeline his first day in office.

Bottom line, I'm not just giving talking points, this is real life stuff. Most people have no idea just how close we are to an energy catastrophe. Diesel Supply in the United States hasn't been this low in decades, and if those trucks stop moving, all hell will break loose in a few days.

Our government should be fostering an energy friendly business environment, it's cool to support green energy, but the problem is supporting the green movement while demonizing fossil fuels. The transition is going to take generations, it's not going to happen overnight. If everyone in the United States bought an electric car tomorrow, it would crash the electrical grid in this country. We need to be building new oil refineries, encouraging continued safe drilling and hydraulic fracturing with oversight, and do whatever is needed to ensure our own energy independence

That's not true at all. Do you understand how a flat tax works? 10% of $50,000 income (5,000) is far less than 10% of $500,000 income (50,000).

Like the current federal income tax system, the first "X" number of dollars should be non-taxable. Throw in an arbitrary number, $30,000 for example. The person making $50,000 a year would only pay $2,000 in income tax, while the person making $500,000 a year would pay $47,000 in income tax.

How is that a "higher tax on the poor"?
