If you won’t need the money for 3-5 years you can buy CDs and t bills which are currently above 4%. Split the money amongst those 3 investments (including SWVXX) and you should be good. If and when we move out of a recession, those rates will drop.

Had a friend who worked there. They were told to not be concerned about accuracy. Just get the returns done and paid for. HR has a huge liability policy, if they make a mistake on a return, the lawyers take care of it

Set up your utilities and subscriptions to be paid by the card. Pay the card off monthly. Don’t use the card to buy things you can’t afford. Don’t maintain a balance on the card, this isn’t free money.

Downside about I bonds as an efund is that they are locked up for 12 months. If you need that money tomorrow, you can’t access it.

I look at my 401k frequently. I do adjust based on what sector I think will do well. I got into an energy fund in august 2021, it’s done well. But the majority of my 401k is in sp500, some tech and some growth funds.
For cash savings, I put some of it into Schwabs money market SWVXX, current yield is just under 3%. You can get that transferred to your account in 3-4 days.
